Skye will be 10 months already in a few days, he is getting so big, and so much more independant........ He brushes his own teeth and drives papas truck!
what a little sweetie pie! looks like he loves that truck there! I have a question....when did he start brushing his teeth? Cody and I were talking about this today....Leane is 9 months now and has two bottom teeth....we have no clue what we should be doing with them? Your little guy is doing everything WAY faster than she is, but I just kinda need some advice here for what to do....thanks!
as soon as he got hisfirst teeth in, we were brushing them. The way I do it is to givehim the toothbrush while I brush my teeth, he watches me for a minute, then puts the brush in his mouth in attempt to do it himself. When I get done, I help him to finish his teeth. He got a soft toothbrush, and uses only water on it for now.
that's what we did, too. I just let the girls play with their toothbrush while I brush my teeth, and then I help them finish. They actually do a pretty good job brushing their teeth now, just from watching what I do.
oh...opps...guess I'd better go out and buy a tooth brush. Leane never imitates what we're doing, though, and I mean never, so I think we'd have to do it for her. Skye sounds unbelievably smart!
I like to think so, but obviously I am bias. I believe that children learn l aot by watching others, rather they imitate or not. I am sure Leane will get the hang of it. When my wife brushes his teeth, she sings the ABC song with him to try to schedule how long it should take. I don't do this, but I encourage her to keep with it. I figure that him and I play, sing, and talk all day. I am always making up new songs for him, and dancing like a dork. He likes it though.
Thats a great idea about singing the ABCs! We have been struggling lately because Danny wants to brush his own teeth with no help, and I worry about him not getting them clean enough because he mostly wants to eat the toothpaste . Maybe we'll try singing the ABCs while daddy or mommy helps brush, then he can do it by himself for as long as he wants! Great idea!!!
We bought a cute little toothbrush that lights up. When the light quits flashing yu're done brushing. Dakota loves that. Sometimes he'll restart it so he can have more time brushing. We used a figer brush at first. Tom's of Maine makes a children's toothpaste that does not have flouride in it so it is safe for them to swallow. Kids just grow up too fast. Dakota will be four tomorrow. I can't believe it. seems like it was just yesterday that we brought him home. Kathi
Yeah we use the silly strawberry toothpaste by Tom's that's flouride free. Danny thinks its candy, and he wants to eat it.
Even when Skye brushes his teeth by himseld I sing the ABC's and stop singing when he quits and sing when he brushes again. I don't know how I started doing this, but I think it's a good idea, he learns how to brush his teeth and the ABC's all in one. Some times he'll say somthing (in baby language) while Im singing the ABC's so it's like he's saying them with me, I think we both like it, at least I do. I love singing to him it's fun and goofy, but sometimes I feel goofy, but hubby tells me not to let it make me feel goofy, goofy songs are better than original songs off the radio.
