As my entrepeneurial adventure continues, i find myself underage, and without a viable safe place to keep my cash. Room is off limits, because large wads of cash are obviously sketchy to parents, same thing goes for car. Thus far, my pockets been the only "safe place", but thats also quite risky. I have a bank account, but both my parents and I receive a statement, and they would notice large deposits. I could wait the 1 month until im 18 and get a bank account, but statements would still come to the house for me from a bank they don't recognize to an account i shouldn't have. My only good idea so far has been a safety deposit/po box. But do banks send home any notifications or anything at all regarding a safe deposit box? Same question for small PO boxes. Just don't want any mail coming home about a safety deposit box i "don't have". Any and all help is appreciated
parents would love nothing more than to find something like that hidden away. Not that they'd be snooping, but i'd be paranoid as shit about it 24/7
Burry it in your backyard in a box. Lol, jk, only do that if you REALLY need to. If you are hiding weed, hide it with that maybe? If not, then put it inside of something they would never think of looking in. That what I do. I mean your parents dont look in every object in your room everyday do they?
how much money are you talking about? if your thinking the only "safe place" is in your pockets, your stupid to begin with safety deposit boxes can hold anything and u wont ever get mail regarding it, as they are private for individuals, not even couples in marriges, families etc. have to be informed
i would just find a good place in you room because i dont think you can get a deposit box under 18. i was also wondering how much money it is that ur trying to hide??
I'm speaking purely in speculation, of course. Making money and not properly handing the government's share over can (to put it mildly) harsh one's mellow. Bank Accounts are a bad idea for large sums of money made under the table. Suspicious deposits or bank activity could be reported to authorities, and the IRS will eventually want to know how someone at that age is moving that much money around. Safety Deposit boxes aren't a horrible idea, but they're generally small and depending on the amount of money needing to be squirreled away, you're not going to get much into one. Renting out a storage locker or 'store-it-yourself' space is probably a better option. It really depends on how much one is making on a weekly basis. If we're talking a few hundred a week, you could easily store that in ben increments in a safety deposit box. If we're thinking in four digit plus numbers, larger space will be needed.
The amount of money I need to hide doesn't really matter. A safety deposit box should be large enough. Was just unclear on the ethics of receiving statements etc about them. I'll obviously double check with the bank beforehand, but I assume its a pretty uniform code. And to digital, i meant my pockets were the only safe place in my house, in my pants, while i'm wearing them. Walkin around, theres no way its stayin in those pockets. My next question, is how do you pay for a safety deposit box without receiving some sort of bill or notice?
You should put it into your bank account then transfer to a paypal account and keep it there until your 18.
even if its like 2k its not worth spending money on a safety deposit box. just keep some of it in different spots or maybe hide it in a different room where your parents wouldnt even think to look around. its not that hard to hide something just think about it. cut a hole in ur matress or something like that im sure you can think or something.
^ a CD for just a year would be pointless. No gain on the investment. If you want any profit if your looking at it that way go with stocks but then again your parents will see that shit. What ever happened to the kid growing up and taking care of themselves? I do all my banking, stocks, bills all that shit and I have been since 16. If your mail is to you then its for you, not them. So maybe get your own accounts set up?
I have my own account, which they co-signed on so that more than just me can deposit or withdrawal if neccesary.
if your dresser drawers come all the way out, you can take out the very bottom drawer and if it has a floorboard or not(im sure you parents aren't going to move the entire dresser to search your room) and put the drawer back in. now you have a spot for all your money, bud, pipes, whatever! weasel your way out of this one.
