Hippie Bus: Who owns still/again such a colorful painted vehicle?

Does anybody here still (or again) drive a "hippie bus"?

I do not just mean an ordinary VW van (of any age), but a bus or van that is beautifully painted in all those psychedelic colors with peace symbols and everything it should have. :rainbow:

Especially does anybody own one of the big American school busses, those are seen in so many old movies?

Has anybody ever painted a modern vehicle as a hippie bus? I like them much more than the modern graffiti tag nonsense, which appears to be rather a boast of young people's machismo. Unlike those "tags" on subway trains, hippie busses could roll through the world by themselves without fear of getting painted over. Nowadays there are certainly a couple of airbrushed cars around, but I'd like to see ones painted with the real classic hippie symbols and psychedelic artwork. (Watch e.g. the movie "I Love You Alice B.Tokla".)

Where are all the busses gone...

:daisy: IMO the modern age's hippie bus should run on some alternative fuel (e.g. filtered used fries fat) instead of anything petrol based, or perhaps even have a hydrogen or solar powered engine. (I guess that the diesel engine of classic hippie buses may use plant oil anyway.) It would be so cool to see these busses cross the world again. It may be that future hippie vehicles will have OLED screens instead of paint on them to display all kinds of moving psychedelia artwork in the night, and perhaps have an anti-gravity engine to fly around. :butterfly But the future is NOW, thus first people should dare again to paint their own cars and busses as pretty as they used to be. Let's make some new hippie busses!

 

Not yet...one day, I will own one.....but there are alot of folk around town here who do have wonderfully painted VW busses...seen a schoolbus converted to an rv, but it could've used some paint

May also be because I'm a nervous wreck and a danger to myself and everyone around me even on a bike.

Them hippie buses look mighty groovy though, can't deny that.

 

It's not quite psychadelic - but my bus has a landscape painted on it. Beach on one side and savanna on the other.
Does this count?
Unfortunately its not an old style American school bus, but I love it.

I have a huge van because I share my life with so many canine friends, and they travel with me, we are family. I would love to paint it like a hippie van, but will wait a bit. It's brand new and a gift and the giver would be rather horrified

 

im only 14 but i have a lime green 1967 VW microvan it has a bed in the back and i just got it 3 days ago from my neighbor for 500 dollars i love but i still cant drive it

We have 5 hippie buses, tho 3 need more paint. Daisy was our road bus before we bought an acre of land & before Daisy we had a shorter bus named Lucy Blue. A good friend of ours has the coolest bus tho, the Sailbus...it has a 25ft sailing yacht on the top!

 

This is our painted Flower Power camper, an old Mercedes 508D from 1972, with this magic bus we travel through Europe

 

I'm desperately searching for Minibus as we speak. Once I have it I'm sure it will be painted beautifully. I assure you.

 

I know what you mean hailtokingbaby, i almost hit a pedestrian i didn't see and that was enough for me...when my license expired i gave it up. But man, this post did get me dreamin... a totally freaked hippie bus that runs on alternative energy...OMG! how cool woud that be! And being an artist into psychedelic art, i want to freak a bus soooo bad!!!

 

a friend of mine got this bus, i was gunna help him crew it, but we kinda had a falling out, lemme know if anybody sees the lovebird

 

Yea i totally want to get hippie bus and paint it but currently i dont have enough money. As soon as do im totally getting one

 

not yet. but a friend and i have been saving up for the past year for a school bus, and in about a year and a half's time, we should be able to finally afford one. we'll be going all out, painting it on the outside and converting the inside into a place to live in :] it shall be wonderful :]

 

yeah im saving my $ now. well trying to, being an alcoholic doesnt help. but yeah its $1000 ish and it need new carbs and fuel lines prolly brakes 2 at least a another $2000 in fixing but im really for the challenge. im gunna get the manual and start fixin when i get it. umm its a 1969 not the pop up style but still cool

theres lots of busses out there, even many ol busses from the 40's are still on the hippy highway..
but sure would love seeing many many more

I am lucky, got a short 64 Ford bus coming-FREE, but needs a ton of work, may end up as my office/retreat room, but it's gonna be gorgeous, already got my colors and floor plan picked out.
