I was curious as to how most of you fellow hippies feel on sports in these generations. To me, I enjoy watching the events casually for the entertainment with friends, but as I see it now, people are blindly entertained and it blocks from important things that are/could be occuring. It is hard for our country to develop when you get caught up in such things. Our government can do as they please regarding war and spending money, and the majority of citizens cant see past it the entertainment. We're in war as we speak with many of our own dying overseas but yet life conditions havent changed drastically on our land. It just upsets me that so many people live and die, speaking of the same sport events year in and year out. Who will win this one? Who will win that one? As a whole we were meant to experience so much more in this life and as long as the people are fed and entertained- things wont change. I also, see that it is hard for me to express my peace & love that I tend to speak on, because the new youth has such a competitive edge on one another. It is hard for one to show love to another brother&sister when they do not have the same intentions. One Love
I like pro wrestling even though its fake, and I enjoy baseball. I love watching it and playing it. I get into football also since its only on Sunday's and I follow the NBA playoffs. Only sport I can watch and enjoy always is baseball, specifically the new York Yankees. But it's not the only thing that occupies my mind like some people.
I like to watch team sports but I am not one for playing them. The level of competitiveness has grown and I just want to have some fun when I play sports. I know a couple of friends that play club sports and it's ridiculous what they do. They travel pretty far to play in tournaments and stuff (I think the farthest I've heard them travel was to Virginia, I live in Florida), and I just can't see how that would be fun. I've done cross country and soccer this year for my high school and had far more fun doing cross country due to the calmer nature of it. My last game in soccer, my coach told me to follow #11 (the best player) and if I got a chance take out his knees. Honestly? That's the kind of stuff I dislike. I just want to have some fun and if you play team sports and read this I don't mean to offend you, it's just the way I look at sports.
more like Who Dun?.. the Saints... the chance of them holding any weight in the nfl this year is not likely
I played sports before I hippied around, especially basketball and softball,so I enjoy watching them. B-ball is like a combo of dancing -ballet and poker and provided me with some of the best times of my life. I pitched fast-pitch softball, NEVER stuck out and usually hit 1 to 3 homers in a game. Just the way it was. I like to watch track, but never was worth a shit at it. Would that ALL competition in the world was sports instead of war and increasingly unresponsive governments.
Go Ducks!! Never liked football much,'till I moved here. Def don't watch pro football. The excitment here when the Quackers play is amazing!!
Taxi driver - "Did you see the game last night ?" Me - "Sports shit mate" Taxi driver - ....................
LOL, this has happened to me a lot with football. which is cool, i can respect it but i just don't like it lol
i have absolutely no interest in sports, but if you have fun doing them and your good at it, why not?
Professional sports is to sport as Justin Beiber is to music. Sports and music are activities that groups of folks engage in, bringing the people together. Professional sports and Justin Beiber are shiny objects that individuals watch as individuals. They provide an idol (the team, the singer) that an individual can identify with. Any comradere that comes from them is based on "We are fans of this idol. Fans of a different idol are THEM."
