Brian and I accosted a passerby to take our picture as we left Seattle...Destination: The Olympic Peninsula, Objective: To see the ocean... As Brian drove along, I stuck my foot out the window, as I often do on roadtrips, to relax and take in the scenery. This is the Olympic Peninsula: Beautiful, Isn't it? Once we set up camp and went to the ocean, I was mesmerised. I could hear it and smell it. I was in complete awe. I had made it to the ocean.
I took off my shoes and ran for the water. I wanted to feel it, smell it, hear it...I was in shock. Brian asked me "And how do you feel?" and this was his only answer. This was the beach: Rialto Beach. And another shot. Isn't Brian a great photographer. Now, it was about this time that I was bowled over by a wave. I came up with a mouth full of water and was amazed to find that the water tasted salty. I had always known that the ocean was made of saltwater. However, the concept of any large body of water that I could swim in tasting salty blew my mind.
those are so nice...they remind me of when I was living around those parts We camped at "third beach" probably near where you were. Glad you are happy out there.
These are pictures of the sunset on Rialto. Brian held me as we watched the waves hit the shore and the sun go down. It was so peaceful.
The next day, we hiked to Second Beach (we almost went to third, seamonster66). On the way, I met a monster in the woods. I thought he was cool. Brian took some awesome pictures of the beach. We napped and snacked and enjoyed ourselves.
Brian was trying to get me to get up and explore the beach. However, I just wanted to take it all in, smell and sight and hearing. It was great. And there were sea creatures that I couldn't identify. And then Patrick came to visit
The next day, we went back to Rialto on our way back home. I took a few more shots, of the ocean in the morning and of the islands in the distance. I was lucky to get this shot of the rock amidst the waves. Once in a lifetime. We ate in Port Townsend. It's a Victorian town, beautiful. And a gull joined us for dinner.
On the ferry back to Seattle, I took another shot of brian. He's so handsome. Notice, he's wearing the same shirt as yesterday. We need showers. This is a beautiful shot of Mount Rainier from the ferry. And once I saw Seattle, I knew I was home. What a beautiful trip! What a wonderful time! And just to show that we're real, here's a shot of us kissing on the way to the Peninsula. Isn't Brian handsome? *sigh*
