Well sometimes peace and love gets kicked in the nuts and you kind of lose your temper....... We're only human. Am I right?
Yeah, you're right. I guess the difference is how you handle yourself after that kick in the nuts. Seems that the prevailing trend is to turn the other cheek or avoid the confrontation. But that is only a majority and at least a few of us exist in the minority. I certainly hold myself to a pretty strict moral code when I contemplate violence, but I do not cringe from the possibility.
Are you talking about actually beating someone up? I've been boxing since I was 11 and for the past two years I've been heavily into muay thai boxing. Then again I'm not a hippie, but outside a ring I haven't fought since I was like 14. I had a friend in Dallas who was kinda hippieish and was a purple belt in BJJ... that might not sound like much, but believe me, its pretty hardcore.
This reply might be a little late but oh well. This is oen reason I don't like to label myself a hippie. Because when I get mad at someone or hit someone (usually just jokingly ) there's always someone who's like, "You can't do that, you're a hippie!"
Yes, and I've noticed that if you say you won't use violence, people like to sit there and continually punch/throw things at you to try and induce to retaliate. I also think there's a difference in studying a fighting style or martial arts form that teaches you to use it as defence to protect yourself and others than just beating people up at any provocation.
you guys know what....i wasnt gonna read this thread cuz when I read the question I said to myself "that sounds like someone from wisconsin." and it is hahahaha!!
Ha ha.....that's funny. Anyway,my reply was a joke.I would and have used violence if the situation called for it,but I use it as a last resort and never initiate it.I did box for 6 years and am a pretty good fighter.I don't promote violence but in the same breath,I'm not going to let someone put their hands on me or anyone I love.
Well like puppet said, I don't think anyone would stand by while being hurt or anyone else they care about is. I could probably fight for different reasons too, but I'm not going to waste my time on some kid who cuts in front of me in line to go see Spiderman 2... that can usually be resolved by saying 'fuck you too".
Pissed off hippies don't really bother me, but what does bother me are these uptight ones that try to come off as hippies. They're all whiney and bitchy and self absorbed.
