Let me first just start off by saying many others and I guess myself to would consider me and my friend potheads, I smoke more than him but I still consider him one. Anyways last night me and him were sharing a fatter than fat joint when I asked him if he thought it was better to smoke in more smoke and hold it less time or to take in less smoke and hold it for quite a while. The reason I asked him that was because my throat and chest was burnin and It hurt a lil bit (not like I couldn't handle it) to hold in big hits, or to even take big hits for that matter. Anyways he said that all the THC is absorbed in the first 3 seconds. Is this true or is it actually better to hold it in for as long as you can?
I've always been told by stoner friends that you should hold in the smoke for as long as you can.. because it will get you higher.. Personally, I think that it doesn't matter.. I think your question is relative to the person.. I feel like I get just as high when I don't hold it in very long, versus holding the smoke in for over 20 seconds..
to be safe i always hold it in for 5-7 seconds, after that it doesnt matter you just get light headed
I always hold for about 3 seconds. I don't see any reason to hold it in longer, because I'm taking repeated hits off the joint anyway, and holding all of them in for at least 3 secs.
85% of THC is absorbed within 2 sec, 5-15% of THC that isn't absorbed is due to THC is losted in the trace of smoke.
i take a medium hit and keep it in for 7-10 sec. A lot of my smoking friends always take big hits and then let it go quick. They wanna seem like they are cool, but i definitely get higher than them and i smoke less. Plus i never ever ever ever ever cough cause i hate it. so i take a medium and and just relax and then let it go. I'm not smoking to impress anyone, i'm trying to get high. And I'm sure holding it in does make a difference because the smoke has more time to mix.
take half a hit, then breathe in cool air to get it in your lungs. you don't need to take a fat rip every time and hold it for 10 seconds. a medium hit and 5 seconds is all you really need.
yeah i forgot to say that i take a hit and then take my mouth off the piece and just breath in air really deep.
I heard holding it in will just fuck your lungs up faster. I never really held it in, even before I heard that. I think 3 seconds is good. And just remember, while your holding that shit in for 2 minutes that bowl or joint is just sitting there burning. I'd rather hold it in for 3 seconds instead of trying to get the last bit THC out of the smoke in your lungs while that perfectly good herb is just sitting there burning away. I think you waste more when you hold it in long.
"When you exhale through the nose does it get you higher?" I don't see why it would. I could be wrong, though. I have heard that, as soon as you inhale; you have already absorbed pretty much all the the THC in the smoke, so holding the smoke within your lungs is just a waste of time and can cause unnecessary lung damage.
