Hole in Freezer! Gas Leaking???

Hello...Help???

my mother Asked me to Defrost the Freezer...As There was Alot of Ice...

So...I was Stabbing at the Ice with a Sharp Knife...

When Suddenly...I Hear a WHOOSH!

Then There is Gas Shooting Out of this Hole...That I have Just made...From the Top of the Freezer...

And it Wouldn't Stop...

So I Covered the Hole With Alot of Celotape...

I Think it is Working...???

my mother is Going to Kill me!!!


Should the Celotape Hold???

 

That happened to my sister's fridge...you're going to need a new one. Sorry...

Is it gas or just air? Is it an electric freezer?

 

I did exactly the same thing as a kid before my parents finally purchased a frost-free refrigerator.

It's not natural gas (I think it freon escaping) but you will need a new fridge

Freezer is dead. Anxiety will not change that fact. The freon has leaked out rendering the box incapable of freezing food. Your mom will need to purchase a new freezer.

Sorry for your loss... Be prepared to eat much less real food and much more ramen.

 

She can look into it but the fact that it's a freezer that requires defrosting tells me that it may well be an obsolete model so finding replacement parts would be difficult at best. Also... the fact that the leak was sprung during the act of defrosting tells me that the compartment itself may be damaged and replacement would be essentially buying a new freezer. Tough to diagnose an unseen issue over the internet.

The only thing Muddie can absolutely fix is the very understandable but pointless anxiety as a result of what clearly was accidental. If her mom is going to overreact then that will happen regardless of what Mudpuddle does to herself emotionally. What's done is done.

anyway, Muddie apologise to mum when she gets home, tell her it was a complete accident, shes not going to be happy about it, but we all fuck up.

so what came of this? did mommy kill you? and taping up a gas leak is a scary thought..... what would you have done had you poked a hole in a propane tank, or the gas line leading to your stove? would you have put a post-it note on it to cover it? HA!
