We're thinking about spending our honeymoon in either Tahiti or Fiji. I've done some research on different places that would be a cool experience and I'm liking what I've read about these two places. Has anyone been there? Just wanted feedback on these places and any hotels they could recommend. I'm still looking up hotel and plane rates to see when's a good time to go.

Carry the minimum number of valuables, and plan places to conceal them. Taxis. Only take taxis clearly identified with official markings. Beware of unmarked cabs. Trains. Well-organized, systematic robbery of passengers on trains along popular tourists routes is a problem. It is more common at night and especially on overnight trains. If you see your way being blocked by a stranger and another person is very close to you from behind, move away. This can happen in the corridor of the train or on the platform or station. Nessa-I'd suggest some of the smaller Islands like Bora Bora.Contact a travel agent -they will have brochures on all or most of the islands of the south pacific with beautifull pictures and descriptions of things to do or not do ,if you mostly want to get away from crowds.Lucky you!Have a fantastic time.

Well,it seems the killers were from the Netherlands.I really think that the South Pacific islands are some of the safest places on earth.It's a damn shame something like this had to happen.I've never heard of anything like this before in the SP.
I would go to Bora Bora in a heart beat. It'll be touristy and expensive I'm sure, but it does look like a world class paradise. You can't go around worrying about people killing you. Besides, this is much more likely to happen in your own country.

I have to agree with Jimmy P - you can't let these nutjobs mess with your head. But then I do want to visit Bora Bora but the murders do concern me since I don't need that kind of stress while on vacation. Jumping123 - Thanks for the info.
