I do! Love it soooo much! When you are comfortable you should try fire hoop, it's a pretty beautiful viseral experience.

    yeah its intense!
seeing as the last time i tried to hula hoop i was 12 and failed miserably....
but im set on beginning this journey!
any ideas on where to find a solid beginner hoop (ie- looking to spend 40 bucks or under)?

make one. it's really easy. You prob won't find a decent adult hoop to buy for $40 or less but your price range you can totally go to a hardware store or plumbing store get some fat thick tubing that is semi flexable so it can be bent in a circle, but not to flimsy so that it is wobbley when you spin it...and then get a connector that fits your tubing, some coloured electrical tape to make it pretty and spin away :D

I would advice you to practice with big fat heavey hoops, I find it makes doing tricks and moving it up and down your body loads easier cause it moves so much slower.

ahh ok so i went to a hardware store today and the guy that was helping me tried to bend some pvc pipe into a hoop and it like snapped in his face
    i felt so bad!
but he said they didnt have any tubing that would bend like that. is it the black kind? or like garden-hose type stuff?
i was so excited to get started too :(

Try asking for irrigation tubing, 3/4 inch diameter. They should probably have a few different "psi" sizes giving you a choice of how firm or flexible you want your hoop. Then grab a connector, some elecrical tape and you're set to make your very own hoop. :hat:
When you insert the connector, it helps to heat up the end of the tubing with a hair dryer beforehand.

ive been hooping sporadically over the past several months, but as of 2 weeks ago its been a daily routine...its beautiful how its all about the circle and the flow of the hoop. i was taught how to do the vortex about two months ago and i could do it...but id been trying over the past few days and i couldnt figure it out. but i just closed my eyes and imagined it (like a video i wached said to do ;) ) and it just happened...hooping is beautiful. i have enough money for one of those sparkly beautiful hoops (right now im using my best friends hoop cuz shes traveling in asia) but i want to put my energy into the hoop that i use. ive looked at the sites im ready to do this :D.. a few of my friends have LED hoops, and some of my friends are amazing...that stuff is crazy...though not as stellar as fire hooping like someone already mentioned.

do you guys know where you can get the sparkly tape that works well on hoops?

heeeeey this thread is still alive!
just an update, made a hoop after i posted this so ive been hooping for about 7months now
spun with fire once, it was intense and beautiful. thinking of making a fire hoop soon :)
what ive been doing recently is zip-tying LED finger lights onto my regular hoop and lighting it up at campouts/raves/etc people really seem to dig it and its a lot cheaper than buying an LED hoop haha

ok so ive called around to several stores..and all i am looking at is either 100psi and 200psi...no 160 psi...

now im not technical and my dad said this has something to do with weight per square inch...so i mean what would you guys suggest i go for if that is all i can come across?

EDIT: i found some! but they sell it per 100 feet and its 50 bucks...now my friends would join in but they are on festival tour right now...that price seems outrageous. It's at home depot and they don't sell it in smaller quantities...suggestions?
