I've been having hot flashes for about a year and I can't find anything to stop them I've tried Maca and Black Cohosh. Does anyone know of anything that will help?
Increase your intake of vitamin B, vitamin C, magnesium and potassium. They are depleted with menopause. Avoid caffeine and alcohol. I used Licorice root. It reduces estrogen while increasing progesterone. I also used aroma therapy at night in my room and it made a huge difference. I had a simmer pot (electric, for potpourri) and used 4 drops of Essential Oil basil or thyme in about a cup of water. Hope something helps.
Soy also helps, a woman my mom works with says she has never had a single hot flash- she's asian, and eats soy everyday. My mom tries to eat more soy, and it has helped. Other things that help are black cohosh, chaste tree, dong quai, flaxseed, isoflavones, motherwort, and red clover. Good luck!
Just out of curiosity, for those of you experiencing hot flashes, are any of you MJ smokers? Does it help or situation or not? I'm probably 10 years away from going through menopause, and have joked on occasion, "When I start having hot flashes, I'm just going to smoke a lot of pot!" I can remember all too well my mother having hot flashes when she was in her 50's. She'd literally come from from work and strip to her bra and panties, run for her cool/comfy robe, and then would stick her head in the freezer. Fond memories. RIP Mom, I miss you! :-(
No, I don't smoke pot, but if I thought it would help I probably would. I've tried sticking my head in the freezer...lol But usually I just go outside until it goes away...At night I'll go out in my nightgown and barefoot and it can be 30f...
