ive applied at over 20 places n no callbacks does it work 2 call them back n shit or do they just get pissed and not even consider u mind u michigans economy blows so i have alot of competition
I had this problem until recently too. Now I have 3 jobs, lol. I guess it's feast or famine. But where have you been applying? What kind of job are you looking for?
ask friends if they're hiring where they work and tell them to say they know someone to fill the posistion. obviously if said person is a bad employee, this might not work.
I'm assuming since you're only 17 you're looking for a part time, after-school job. Drop off the application then call back 3 or 4 days later and ask for the hiring manager. Ask them if they have had a chance to reveiw your application and that you are extremly interested in coming in to speak with them. To most of the employers at those types of establishments all of the 17 year old high schoolers applying are all the same. If you call and speak with the manager they are more apt to pick your name because you showed initiative. Good luck
I just applied for the first time. Came in, filled out an application after i saw they were hiring on craigslist. Then two days later they called me back and told me to come in on wensday for training.
i'd keep applying, or call them and see what your status is and if they reviewed your application. its hard to find a job around here too. and once i go back to school i have to find a job there. and its probably gonna be hard as hell.
i'm going to cal u. i'm guessing you probably know where it is since you live around pittsburgh. i've never heard of craigslist.. i'll have to look. i need a fulltime job... fuck
post your resume/cover letter. often times its just a poorly constructed resume (not saying yours is but i can tell you what to put in and not to put in)
try to hand in a hard copy of an application personally to the hiring manager, and talk with them about the job.
Hamfoot hit the nail on the head. You really have to show the employer you WANT the job. Though it obviously doesn't apply for everyone, employers are usually cautious when hiring teens. They don't want to take the time to train you only to have you quit or preform poorly.
I'm in the same position. I turn in an application, check on it a couple days later, call in, and nothing. It sucks. I turn in my resume and all that shit too. I hate it cuz all my friends have jobs. And I'm broke.
I had that problem for like 5 mins. First job, no interview nothing just go and work landscaping. Second job which I've had over 2 yrs now, well I tried putting in applications in other places but nobody would call back and I was getting pissed. So my mom said the next application I put in I should call back after like 3-4 days. I called back and talked to the manager and asked if the position was still available. She set up an interview with me on the phone, I went did the interview and got the job. Maybe you just have to follow through with getting the job.
you must followup. if you dont they dont care to pick you. there's probably 5 other ppl trying to get that job and if your the only one to follow up and ask., who do you think they're gonna pick. thats ho0w i got my j-o-b. speaking of jobs, i kinda wanna roll a joint.
