We broke up some time ago, but now she said to someone I know that she is going on a date in a few days. It stings. So I figured if I ask, how should a person cope with this? I think people would say "have sex with another chick"... I've had sex a few times after she left me, but I still care for her and if it were up to me we would have still been together. I haven't lost my feelings for her. I've been with girls before, but this was something special. We hooked up after a few months but I knew when we met each other we were going to be with each other, and it turned out that way. She was a serious person with a certain amount of integrity, and I love her facial expressions, her laughing, smiling, etc. etc. I watched Hancock in the cinema yesterday and I cried because the relationship between Hancock and that girl, Mary, is just how it is with us. The exact fucking same way, except that we don't have superpowers. This whole thing, it just feels like shit. So how do I get over her and the possibility that she will get a new boyfriend? It makes my stomach sick.
My favorite piece of advice on this comes from Dan Savage. "Every ounce of another person's saliva you swallow takes a week off the healing time." But yeah, it just takes time. Also, don't idealize her. No one is perfect, and I'm sure she did plenty of things that annoyed you. Focus on those instead of sappy crap like "oh, we were so great together!" Sooner or later you'll meet someone way better who makes you forget why you were so hung up on this one chick. I guarantee it.
I'm sorry to say that you may not really love her. Love means wanting the person you love to be happy and have a great life. Yes, right after a break up there is a feeling like something has been torn away from you but that will heal. But if you truly love another you will always want the best for them even if that may not be you. In time you may return to being friends so you can continue to enjoy her facial expressions, her laughing, smiling, etc. etc. and enjoy that your love for her has allowed her to be happy.
^ I agree But At the same time We try and give advise cuz we know how it feels to be heartbroken but We aren't living the moment witch at times makes us give people bad Advise... It's better sometimes for us to make our own Medicine for our own heart to heal... But what is A fact Is that Time really is a healer even though we wish it would go by faster..
Realize many have suffered rejection by a girlfriend and survived. You will, too. Time changes everything. Good Luck.
What reason did she cite for breaking up with you? If we knew that, we could formulate more helpful ways for you to get past it.
