Donating your organs? Have you donated a part of your body.....marrow, kidney, etc? Would you donate? Are there certain organs that you would or would not donate? Just wondering....
ive got an organ donor sticker on my health card, my family knows i want to give away my organs after i die (well, any that are useful)... i mean, i wont be using them anymore, why not let someone else have a go?
Yes my body can go to people/science when I die. As for while I'm alive, I haven't had to donate anything but if I was in a position to do so, I would.
Is there an ethics clause? I don’t want to donate my organ(s) to some child molester or murderer Hotwater
well they damd sure aren't gonna do ME any good when i ain't living in this body any more. now are they! so what the big deal? if they can save some other poor bastards life i can't see anything wrong with that. only thing i'd worrly about a little bit is someone getting too impatient to not wait for me to no longer need them. other then that, what's dead meat to me when i'm no longer living in it? =^^= .../\...
i've donated blood before, but all three times were bad experiences so i probably won't be doing that again. you can certainly have my organs when i'm dead though
No way would I donate my organs, because I know that organs are worth a lot of money and that people who were organ donors have been allowed to die, or even deliberately made to die so their organs can be harvested. If I end up in the hospital (death trap), I don't want to worry about being murdered or allowed to die so someone can profit from my organs. Being an organ donor sounds like a nice thing to be, but I also understand there is a lot of money to be made by crooked people who couldn't really care less if you die as long as they make their money. The medical establishment is an industry just like any other industry, which places profit before people. It's a good thing to understand this. "DENVER, Colorado - A US coroner issued a homicide finding yesterday after determining that two hospitals allowed vital organs to be removed from a man before they had proven he was brain dead. William Rardin's cause of death was 'removal of his internal organs by an organ recovery team', ruled coroner Mark Young in Montrose County, Colorado. He said he did not believe the case should be a criminal matter, but suggested it 'should lead to a clarification of what the accepted standard is'. Mr Young said the two hospitals did not follow 'accepted medical standards' or meet state guidelines in determining that Rardin, 31, was brain dead after he shot himself last month. He was a registered organ donor and his heart, liver, pancreas and two kidneys were transplanted into waiting patients. 'I think it (the organ donation) was done in good faith ... but the standard has me thinking about taking the organ donation card off my licence,' he said. 'I don't mind donating organs if I'm dead, but I want to be dead first.'" --The Australian, "Harvest of organs was 'homicide'," October 06, 2004 http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/ This is just one example among hundreds over the years. My organs are staying where they belong, which is in my body.
I don't know, I'd like to be cremated, and there is something unsettling to me about my mortal vessel being chopped up and distributed like a casserole. No telling who would get what, and whether or not it would be saving someone's life or being kept on reserve in a cold drawer for medical students to poke at. And if organs of mine were used to save someone's life, the question that comes to mind is "Is this person worth saving?" Meaning, what if the person who gets my liver is some abusive asshole alcoholic who is only going to ruin the new liver over time? If I could have a guarantee that my organs are being put to good use in good people, I'd definitely be a donor. Other than that, if I do die of old age then it is very possible that by that time most organs will be able to be grown in a lab.
yeah, i'll donate anything... i just wouldn't recommend taking my lungs...i have mild asthma. =] and if someone gets my corneas they are going to have to wear glasses...haha.
I used to play on our families organ. but my family donated it to a church recently, so I no longer play it. I say, donating organs, sucks.
When I'm dead, I'm obviously not gonna need my organs and if someone else does, then by all means they can have them. I donate blood regularly, and I would also donate a kidney if someone I love needed it, same with bone marrow.
classic sketch, rubin! in britain they're considering making everybody an organ donor unless they specify against it... they aint taking mine...im sorry but as lace and feet says the idea of my body being dished out is quite unnerving.] and if there is a heaven...you cant get in without your body...so i better hold on just in case...x x x
This brings forth another question....regarding belief in heaven and what is "required" to get in....does this mean that someone who has had to have parts of their body removed for medical reasons will be denied access? I have friends that have had their appendixes out, and my grandfather just had a lung removed due to cancer....does that mean they will not be granted permission to the pearly gates because they are not "whole"?
this is true and for the longest time ppl said NO THATS BS until a report came out this year showing doctors were calling deaths long before a person was actually dead.
Interesting question. What defines a "whole" person then? Is a circumcised man whole? What about someone who had a tummy tuck, or liposuction?
