I think it's a good thing if used in the right context. It's good as a port of call when you need to know something, but not so good when people try and right essays based purely on what they've seen on wikipedia. I think most of the information is accurate, but the anti-wikipedia technophobes will advocate the informational innacuracies. All in all I think the good outways the bad.
Reliable to an extent. I do quick Wiki-searches here and there, but when I need to do some heavy research, I look elsewhere.
I love it. Plus you can easily use it professionally. Most articles link their points to very credible sources. You just go to the source website and derive your information from them.
That website is a load of crap. Sure, Wiki isn't going to give you a complete scientific breakdown of a shark's penis, but it will tell you that I shark has a penis and how it uses it to reproduce. Just like any encyclopedia would. There is no spam in Wiki, and they correct their articles fairly fast. Those people are paranoid.
its good. i like it because it gives you some where to start out if your doing a research paper. im choosing to make my research paper two pages instead of the 8... or not doing it. its too time comsuming
the only crap i smell is what's coming out of your mouth right this second. an encylopeia that anybody can edit LOL. you'd be better off sticking to Britanica. Wikipedia is often times a portal to various porn websites. how is that educational anyways?
Wiki is probably the most useful tool on the internet right now. Everyday i use wiki at least twice. ^man the only topics dumbasses edit are the dumbass topics to begin with.
Yes, the fact that anyone can edit it is the beauty. ...and it somehow always manages to remain accurate after they correct the edits... and believe me, they do it fast. Other than that... double check with the original source when you're using Wiki... it's that simple. You have to be an idiot to quote wrong information from Wiki. I'm sure that Wiki will give you links to porn websites if you're reading an entry about scrotum domination... but wouldn't you expect some links after reading about something so fascinating? Anyhow... Wiki is awesome. You stick to your Britanica. Do much independent academic research?
something tells me all you did was click the link and look at the front page without actually reading the articles. Britanica is and always has been way more reputable than shittypedia could ever be.
Nah, I read one of them before deciding that it was all pretty damn idiotic. I've always liked Britanica. Yet, Wiki is the future, it's more convenient, and it sure does have a whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooole lot more info than Britanica.
