I'm not great at it, but not bad either. I'm best when I know the material well that I'm presenting. Some people seem naturally good at public speaking. They know how to convey a point and keep the audience enthused. .
Depends. If it is a subject I know well, and actually like, then I am okay. I don't like knowing about it beforehand though, I always work myself up.
I had to make a video for a website recently and had to speak using a telepromter. It took me over 30 takes which is a record number. So not too good.
Friends! Romans! Countrymen! etc! eh, not bad.. tho' i ain't done any public speaking for quite a while... used to be ok at it in Uni and work when it was required tho'
I'm terrible at it, it makes me feel soo retardedly sad I can't look up, so now I just turn my back to the class ...before this gay awkward teen phase I used to be class clown and I was wierldly good at presenting
Ordinarily I’m just an average public speaker; but in the event of an emergency the adrenaline rush would be all that’s required to speak up in a clear, calm, commanding voice, to say what needs to be said for as long as necessary Hotwater
I was a fairly outgoing speech and theatre kid in school, but when I had to speak at events, I always shook like a leaf. I didn't shake so bad while acting, though, so I guess I'm a better public actor than a public speaker. I'm a fairly shy and introverted person now that all my other loud and boisterous friends have moved away, so now I assume I'd probably be awful at it. I also have a tendency to talk too fast and my words get jumbled. I'm a pretty crappy private speaker, let alone a public speaker.
Still though I’m guessing you’ve never had any difficulty communicating through body language Hotwater
Same here. I always have to force myself to go slow, but then it seems like I'm talking in slow motion and it takes an eternity to finish the speech.
it makes me a little nervous, but I'm a powerful speaker. based on the feedback I've received at least.
I have always managed but I do not think I would say it is a something I enjoy. I actually think that being on the debate team helped me. My kids have had to do public speaking yearly since grade 3. I think that has helped them. Although my daughter is far more comfortable than my son when they have to present.
I don't like it much, but I wouldn't say I'm bad at it. I get nervous before going up but usually after 5 mins of talking the nerves have worn off, especially if I'm well prepared. The last 2 years I've been giving presentations every week in front of 10 people, at the start I found I was even a little nervous at doing that but now I'm cool. I found singing in front of people much more nerve wracking, cos the nerves stuff up your pitch!
used to be great at it in middle school, then the awkward years hit and i'm still recovering. getting better though
