In the US & UK. I mean the ratios like 1 in X amount. This is just out of pure interest, and obviously not everyone who is would be open about it so it'd be skewed, but still. Anyone?
Hard to say because sexuality isn't black and white. However I have heard that girls are generally more in the middle and guys are more one or the other. That makes some sense to me. I know lots of bi chicks but all the guys I know are either very straight or very gay. But as I said sexuality isn't black and white so it's hard to say for sure.
I used to hear the 1 in 10 figure a lot too. More recently I hear the guesstimate is more like 1 in 16/1 in 20. But kinda like Kmarcher says it's hard to know or even really guess because how do you really define who's gay or bi or part time gay or whatever. I suspect that with more social acceptance and tolerance there wll be a lot more people who are out and counted.
Gay guys, gay before puberty that is, I think around 1 in 50, or 2%, sounds about right. As for bi guys, I'm beginning to think by the time they are all 60, its just about all of them
I heard 1 in 10, and I think it was 1 in 10 who ever have a homosexual experience. I don't buy that figure either though. I could believe maybe 1 in 10 men are gay OR bi. And I could believe that 1 in 10 is men and women, with an uneven weighting (e.g. more than 1 in 10 women, less than 1 in 10 men). 1 in 10 as "committed" homosexuals just sounds highly improbable.
The Kinsey Reports, (the original large scale survey of human sexuality in the US) claimed 10% of men Later surveys have suggested it is as low as 2% Being "gay" is a western social construct so in some societies there is no such thing as "gay" There are men who have sex with men but there is no gay identity and social environment strongly influences sexual behavior For example, in countries or cultures where women are strictly segregated unmarried men are more likely to have sex with men These men do not identify as gay but consider men on man sex perfectly normal for bachelors You could ask what percentage of men have sex with men and again it would be culturally defined In macho societies only passive partners in man on man sex are considered "gay" - Mexico is a good example And there's semigration - men who have sex with men migrate to specific urban centers; London, Sydney, Cape Town; New York Survey percentage of gay men in say Windhoek, Namibia and you would find less than 1% if not 0% but 1000km down the road in Camps Bay, Cape Town, it would be 60%
Theres some people who know they're gay when they're like 5, I think this is kind of rare -- not like 1/10 but maybe 1/30. Other people realize it through puberty. Others when they're 40! Theres no way to know.
