You can use any kind of weed, but generally the drier it is, the more you'll collect. And It takes a little while to build up the kief. Depending on how much your looking for a Quad id say in my grinder used to get like a gram or 2 of keif. if its the dank danks

the yield with vary a lot depending on the microns of the screen you are using, the quality of the bud, how wet/dry it is, and how much it's ground up. its really hard to give you any kind of specific number

one suggestion, when grinding it up, just grind it until the chunks are about the size of bbs. when you grind it so fine its almost a powder there is waaaaaay more plant material that will fall through the screen, and make your kief/hash less potent, less tasty, and more harsh. you can tell this is happening when your kief is dark green. it should be a light yellow/blonde color with maybe a slight green tint, but if it starts looking seriously green you know a lot of plant matter is in there

another suggestion, when your done kiefing your ground up bud, dont throw it out or smoke it, but do a further extraction be it butane or iso alcohol. this will give you a much higher overall yield of product from the amount of bud you start with. plus youll have hash, kief, and oil all at the same time ;)
