How much do you tip?

How much do you guys usually tip? Assuming service is good...I assume people who are cheap probably won't respond to this, as will people who can't figure out how to throw in a boob joke.

But hoe much do you guys usually tip? I tip around 20% in restaurants, and sometimes a little higher in bars. (If I'm just haning out at a table for 3 hours.) The alcohol probably helps too.

I just feel that servers probably need a little generosity every now and then. Plus it makes me feel good. Like I should be called gov'ner.

It depends on how much money I have. I usually don't go out to eat anyways. But when I do I try to leave enough money so that if I get the same waitress again she won't spit in my food.

 

20%. sometimes a bit more to attractive young women, if its a place I frequent.

It all depends on the service I get. I usually tip on average 5 bucks. But if im in a good mood and they are extremely nice and are a good waiter I tip 10 to 15 somtimes 20. I was at this little family owned mexican food restaurant in denton the other weekend, which I was told about from some people as being the best mexican food around the area. I cant even remember the name if it now.. But I have never seen such good service and hard working people at a restaurant that actually loved their job. They were the nicest waiters I have ever had in my life. I can see why I got so many people telling me this was the best place around. I ended up giving a 20 dollar tip. The name of the place will hit me in a min. I just cant think of it.

 

I hate to admit it. I do the same. I try to be generous all around, but beauty has a strange effect on my empathy.

I think I might be a chump.

 

usually a little more than 20% for dinner. at the bar.. it depends on how drunk i get. if i dont have a tab i will give a dollar or two per drink, but as i get drunker i get a little bit more generous. i once tipped the bathroom attendant $20. she fucking loved me.

 

if i actually have the money, i tip really well compared to most people i know my age.

usually a night out, buffalo tenders + 3 beers = ~$20...i give about 5-6 dollar tip, so around 25% for a normal night out

pretty woman bartenders tend to get more money out of me....some places i buy them drinks if they are able to drink during work

 

On a few ocasions I've had waitresses come up and hug me for tipping well. It's a little unexpected at bars. If it happened at red lobster it'd be even weirder.

 

25-100%, it depends how drunk i am. and if the person is rude or continually makes us wait way too long they get 0-15%.
but usually if i go out its to drink and i usually tip $1 per drink at the bar

 

The old guideline:

10%-Shitty service
15%-Good service
20%-Great service / I'm drunk.

 

i havent ever had service so crappy that i stiffed them. one time i had the shittiest waitress ever and i tipped her $2 and i still felt bad about it.

of course that was adolescence in dc, in the south the servers are always cool

if they arent rude i'm generous, the other day i gave the woman at the curbside to go pickup $4 because she looked some tired single mom, and i was high about to eat

 

I've never not tipped before. Most of the time I get decent service anywhere.

I can imagine if I got something hot spilled on me, I wouldn't tip. But I don't think I've ever had anyone completely incompetent.

I'd like to have a waiter so bad it ended in fisticuffs. Of course I have that dream a bit.
