I have a few questions about spore syringes: 1: How long do they stay "good", do they go bad? 2: How do you store them properly? I have mine in the fridge right now. 3: If they get frozen, are there any effects? Mine arrived in the mail frozen, I did a little research and I think it's ok. Just wondering if anyone can confirm. I will be starting with making liquid culture this weekend until I can get the supplies to inncoulate my new strains. I am going to noc up 4 different strains, each strain in 2-3 different grains. Then I will bulk them all to a coir/verm/gypsum sub and fruit in a homemade monotub. More to come when I get started. I am going to try to start my Panaeolus strain that I got mis shipped also, we will see what happens
They will go bad, but it takes a LONG damn time. The only one I ever had go bad got beer spilled on it. In the drawer of a fridge will be fine. It might be bad. Dehydrated spores can survive in outer space. Hydrated ones aren't so tough. Still worth a shot, though. Use a set of scales, and make sure your sugar content is between 4-6%. You're kind of jumping the gun. Start with just one type of grain and get that down before switching. Which Pan did you get, and do you know anything about growing Pans? They're not as easy as Cubensis by any means, and take a lot longer.
Panaeolus (Copelandia) cambodginiensis (Thailand, Suphanburi Goliath) is the pas strain. I am doing more research on pans now, it wasn't something I was expecting. But I don't want to waste them, it's worth a try. Do you have any tips / teks that would help? BTW, your the man 36! I like your new bulk grow thread. I want to make a pictorial on my process when I start this batch. I have used the pf tek and grain to coir/verm before.
1. A while. Oldest syringe I've inoculated with is a 2 year old syringe. Worked just fine. 2. Properly, wrapped in foil in the refrigerator. But I always keep then in a bin at room temp. 3. I think they should be fine if they wen't frozen for long, but I don't recommend purposefully freezing syringes.
No, I've never worked with Pans before. You got a damn good one, though. Check out the vaults at Mycotopia.net. Thank you. I try. That'd be awesome. Just try to get detailed pics.
The little research I did last night said that the pans can get noced up with grains and bulked to coir also, I am still going to do more research but that's all I have come up with so far. And yea, I might need a better camera. IDK yet. I tried to take a pic of my syringes and you couldn't read the writing that well. I am glad that their mistake brought me a nice strain They said that I requested Cambodians (which I did) and they don't carry that strain. So the packing guy just gave me the cambodginiensis because that was the closest to Cambodians, lol.
Yeah, but spawning them to poo is way better, and you absolutely have to have a casing. They have a very low tolerance to low FAE and RH. Basically, put them on hold for a while, do a couple Cubensis runs then try them. Well, you lucked up like hell. I'd love to accidentally get some Pans. I'm gonna have some Ps. Cyanescens come fall, though.
I've never had them to miss them. The only psychoactives that grow here are Caerluipes and Ovoids. Good luck finding a Caerluipes, and I'm about 4 hours too far South for Ovoids.
aren't you from Ohio 36? There's actually quite a lot of Gymnos growing in the woods from what I've heard from mushroom hunters in southeastern Ohio. I've found quite a bit of Pann Subbs as well. (southwestern Ohio). don't know about Central/Northern Ohio though.
Yeah, I guess I could pick Gyms. They're notoriously weak and nasty-tasting, though. Easier to just grow Cubes. I'm not much on hunting (aside from marveling at every bit of fungus I see anywhere) so I wouldn't be eating anything I found anyway. The only things I would be comfortable IDing are Pan Subbs and Cubes.
