I want to learn how to knit, however being male when i have asked female freinds of mine how it is done they have assumed that i was joking, and not helped. By next winter i reallywant to be wearing hommade knittwear, somthing i havnt done since my gran passed away. Does any body know of any good online guides to get me started?
videos: http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/misc.php and ask at your local yarn store, they probably have free classes, or at the very least, the person working can help you right there. whenever i get stuck on something, i head to the yarn store, the gals there are always thrilled to help even if i dont buy anything.
If there's a Michael's craft store near you, they offer all kinds of craft classes. If, also, you were to wander through any craft store that carries yarn, you're bound to find at least 2 or 3 very easy to follow instruction books on how to knit. Good luck!
otherwise here are some knitting links: http://www.learntocrochet.com/instructions_kn.php3 http://www.easy-knit.com/index.htm?gclid=CNKEz5LZ0oUCFUyGIgode2Hw3w http://www.learntoknit.com/ http://www.knittinghelp.com/

definitely get some basic skills before it gets cold. my mom crochets a lap blanket every year, it keeps her warm the colder it gets! and my PawPaw, who is a retired Navy chief, taught my mom how to embroider. he was strict about it too. Kudos and bravo zulu to a guy willing to join the ranks.
Hey Naplam, you seem to have the same idea as me. I chose to learn the ways to knit because I wanted to surprise my wife with a gift, by presenting her something that was knitted by me. But yes this is harder than I thought and more so because I have got to manage other things in office as well. But despite all the hurdles I am determined to do this just to show her I can do anything for her and its not the expensive gifts alone that I give her to show my love I can work overtime to surprise her too. Guess these links are going to help me in my mission. One thing that has come to my mind is about the Canvas photo ideas also. Thanks for sharing mates.
I'm beginning my knitting adventure tomorrow! I'm a very crafty person by nature--I make all of my own jewelry and am always snipping away at clothes, using them for something not initially intended--so hopefully my creative mind will help me conquer the art of knitting! Winter is near and I love my arm/leg warmers, I just think I'd love them even more if I made them myself! Thanks for the links, I'll be using them to help guide me along!
I taught myself online and I'll just say that for me, it was hardest going from the cast on row to knitting. I originally used knittinghelp.com to teach myself the basics, but I had found some good videos on youtube to help me put the two steps together.
i think that crocheting is easier ````````______ ````````@@@@ ________________________ !!!!!!!!@@@@@@@@!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!@@@@@@@@!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! ```@@@@@@@@ !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! ````@@@@@@@@ !!!!!!!!!! !!!!! ````@@@@@@@@ ```` !!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE MY SWEATER??
Hi! If you're still looking for help learning to knit and/or with some motivation, I recommend looking for a StitchnBitch group in your neighborhood. Don't be put off by the name, it's usually a really chill group of people who enjoy getting together to knit. And as most knitters are female, a guy showing up is always appreciated; I imagine you could get a lot of help there. Just Google StitchnBitch and your town, or check YahooGroups or Meetup. Hope this helps!
