The situation inside New Orleans' dank, hot Superdome, a shelter for 20,000 people, is becoming desperate. Floodwaters surround it, and its air conditioning and toilets are out of order.

This is just crazy... these are the first images I see, I never watch the news or read newspapers or anything, and I'm like.. shocked

and i just heard on the radio that ppl are being (or have been) bussed to the astrodome in texas from the superdome.

 

good observation techie.. i honestly didn't notice the first time i looked at it.. that's scary

so terrible....

 

super optimistic estimates put the clearing of the water at a month, in that time bodies in that water will have fermented and done all sorts of other unpleasant things

the chemicals in that water will suck into the walls of the buildings left standing so even those that survived in new orleans will probably have to be demolished simply because of health hazards

new orleans will never be the same again, it is a necropolis now, even if it is rebuilt death will haunt it simply because people remember things like this and become changed by it
