I am ashamed of being a "hippie". So much I changed.

So I grew up in a home of spelt bread, birkenstocks, acoustic guitar, too much tye dye and ZERO drug use. Why? Drugs are bad for you. There probably would have been marijuana but my parents & I don't react to it well so there wasn't any.

I used to be happy enough to walk down the street in a hemp choker, flare jeans, and in my neutral colored world. Then I learned something. Everyone's fucked up.

Now being a hippie has turned into let's get fucked up, act stupid, write about bullshit, talk about killing people, who you would murder, how to commit suicide, I thought you were the happy ones? I mean if this was vampire freaks, then I could totally understand. And what about the ones of you that are so God damn liberal nutcase, that you're the stupid shit. *NAMBLA?*

Its like society dug a hole, sunk in over half america and you all fell in it. Not only that, so many people are so fucking brainwashed, and so fucking "do whatever you want" that it doesn't even matter. The very fact, that you can't even really say what you actually believe, because you're so fucking scared and ashamed of the truth.

So how about this, why don't I start, I don't support gay marriage. I don't care if you're gay. I really don't, do whatever the hell you want. But here is what I think, marriage is a religious thing. If you hate God, why do you want to do a Godly thing, and it's a biblical thing, so what the hell.

I also think if you don't want the word "God" in anything American, then don't listen to it. Why? Because this country was built on Christianity. You don't have to believe in it, I don't care, but we're more supportive of 666 and the pentagram, and prostitutes on every corner, and hell you want to put demons and whatnot all over the freaking place, hey go ahead. But don't fucking put up one fucking cross. Hey halloween, let's put satan everywhere, but when it comes to easter lets replace the cross with a duck.

If you stared at the world from the sky you wouldn't even be able to realize how iniquitious it has become. Don't give me that "times have changed, it's 2008 get used to it" crap. It's doing really good, we have teenagers sleeping with up to 30 men in a year, we have preteens killing themselves, and heroin addicts stealing from their own family for just one night of getting fucked up, we have homeless men on the street getting robbed and murdered, we have fathers killing their own babies. God my head hurts.

So there are my point of views, your entitled to your own, I don't want anyone arguing in this post, but I do want people to say what their ashamed of. And what they believe in.

 

I don't really believe most of the people on this site are true hippies, nor would they claim to be. There are still some, but the demographics have changed to have a lot more just "alternative" people perhaps with some hippyish inclinations. I know a lot of "real" hippies, and they certainly aren't on sites like this. They don't have computers.

And the world is a mess, I'll grant you that.

PS - You said not to argue, so I won't contradict your statements regarding religion.

I'm ashamed of the excessive violence in the world and how we still legally use it to "punish" people, to "negotiate" with other countries, and how much it goes on illegally against not only people, but animals too.
I am ashamed of psycho-Christians that give reasonable Christians like me a bad name. They CLEARLY don't pay attntion to the teachings of Christ, thus makiing me question whther or not they can really be called Christians...
I'm ashamed of the way the government claims they separate church and state so that people that are not Christians are not oppressed by Christian beliefs, but then fail to follow through in this, the LAND OF THE FREE.
I am ashamed of people that get all freaked out and fucked up over things other people do that aren't hurting ANYONE.
I am ashamed of how we have aboslutely RAPED the planet to the point where it is collapsing underneath us and no one is doing A GOD DAMNED THING.

If you're not at least 45 or so, you will never be a hippy. You'll be an imitator.

Hippies came about as a response to something wrong in society in that day and time. Same problems exists today, but they require original thought and not romantic daydreaming about the good ol days.

Quite frankly, most of the old hippies got absorbed into society anyway. Careers, health insurance, 401k. People have to make concessions to provide for their needs and the needs of their families sometimes. There is no shame in doing so.

The only real shame is to witness wrongdoing and be silent about it.

ok but marriage actually is a religious thing, in itself. has been since the beginning of time, except for now we make it all multimillion dollar bullshit.

I don't understand why gay couples can't come together and have their own little wedding crap too and be like "hey whatever". MARRIAGE itself is religious, now the wedding ring is actually a pagan symbol, it's round which is supposed to represent eternity, so that the couple will be together forever, eternity, like never ever seperating, even beyond death.

We gave up on the stories of Joan Of Ark, the 15th century saint. Back when people had balls, people weren't worried about what other people thought if they stood up for what they believed in, they were just worried about DYING. Even CHRISTIANS. Joan Of Ark was burned at the stake for heresy, for those of you who don't know what heresy means it means... beliefs or practices that are unorthadox. In Joan's case this was Christian heresy. By the way she was proven innocent twenty four years later after her death, but for those of you who do not know, Joan was 19 years old when she was burned at the stake. Young for us, in our minds this day in age. Not back then though.

So can someone answer me, why we're such pussies? I mean I'm saying that to be blunt. Sorry if the word pussy offends you. Why is it easier to just go along with whatever one else is saying? This is the first important post I have really ever read on this site although I don't agree with all the content I do agree with the message. As for the hippies part who cares I'm not a Hippie I am a Human Being. I just watched three kings in cinema arts so I'm feeling passionate right now haha. All I hear is theres nothing we can do or that is the way it is, etc. But I think that is a huge flaw when it comes to man and woman. I feel that there needs to be a serious change in our thinking. You know where that starts...with us...right now. I am sick of all this Hippie talk (its a label that is not important, just like all the rest) why are we acting like the 60's generation was the last hope for humanity...thats crap we are human and we can make a change, even if it is small and it takes 1000 years. Why are we so worried what others think and we can't even say what we believe even if it might be wrong or flawed. It seems like everyone is just waiting for the earth to explode or something so we don't have to deal with our mess. This is so sad...we need to stop putting barriers on ourselves and stand up. I'm not talking about revolution or anything (although I wouldn't be surprised if it happened not to long from now) but we need to change. All of us not just some. Did you know that there are 1.2 billion people who live on less than 1 dollar a day, 1.6 billion who live on 2 dollars a day and 4.3 billion who live on less than 5 dollars a day!!!! Why should a huge percent of the population suffer while we, THE RICH and a very small percent just reap the benefits. When I learned this in Economics I was stunned. We act like we have it so damn rough.......we need to grow up and make a difference. And of course there will be those who will say this seems impossible or not probable...well no shit because thats our attitude, the I can't make a difference so why try attitude. All I am saying is there needs to be a change in our mindset or we our going to die from the inside out. I don't care how big of a difference it is...even just helping people any way we can but its time for us who are in hiding to step forth and become the men and women we need to be. Well there you go.

i have a freind who was the 7th generation descendent of her clanmother so was taught by twylah nitze all of the tribes knowledge that was still complete in order for her then to be responcible for passing it on to future generations

 

Some gays are Christians who believe that God loves them no matter what and they see no reason why they shouldn't married for the same reason and man and woman should be married. Not everyone believes God hates the gays, no matter what the Bible says. I'm having this same argument in another thread, but I'll explain it if you want.

Who's "we" again? You mean all Christians? That's pretty broad. There's just about as many different denominations of Christian as there are other religions (another thing I find to be bullshit). Some denominations are more radical than others. Sometimes it's just individuals. A certain part of it is the way we are brought up. Another part is pack-mentality- the same thing that's responsible for social anxiety: we fear being rejected from our herd and in caveman times, that meant death. It's just a hold-over. To a certain extent, it has its uses, but for the most part, we really should be able to rise above it these days. However, everyone is either too happy in their little cliques to change, or they are trying to be responsible for their families who might be hurt for thier opinions (I don't mean disown you hurt- I mean beat the shit out of your kid at recess hurt).
There's a myriad of reasons. It would be pointless to list them all.

first off, your a hipocrite, im not trying to attack you, but you changed who you were because your "ashamed" of being a hippie. in your post you say people are too afraid to speak their minds and be who they are, but yet your "ashamed" of being a hippie? if thats who you really are, why be ashamed of what everyone else is doing?

marriage does not have to be a religious thing, its just a bond between two persons, there does not have to be any religion involved, gay's dont hate god either, thats a generalization that you made up, according to the christian bible, gay people should not get married, but christianity is NOT the only religion, you dont always have to go by the christian bible. marriage is not "godly" or biblical either, theres different forms of marriage in different religions, there not just fighting for the christian one.

just because this country was built on christianity, does not make it OK. people want to seperate church and state because christianity isnt always right. like stem cell research, Bush dosnt want to allow it because it goes against christianity and his beliefs, even though stem cell research can cure diseases, help the disabled, and possibly cure thousands of other issues that plague the world, but no, christianity dosnt approve, good job. i also dont see what prostitues on every corner have to do with the devil but im pretty sure cities dont approve of their actions.

marriage is not religious! marriage has always been a legal contract between three parties husband, wife and, state. the state is the topdog in any marriage. it is way to damn easy to get married, and far too hard to get divorce. people say they get married because of "love." thats a lie! the vast, vast majorty of people get married out of attachment, or to put it another way... co-dependence. marraige is nothing but slavery. it's about domination and control. thats how allmost all marraiges are. there are a few (and i mean a very, very, very, few!) marraiges that are baised on real love and equality. as for me. i've never been married, nor have i ever had childern, AND I NEVER WILL! it is cruel and evil to bring childern into this shitty world to be shitted and walked upon by adults (such as parenets, school teachers, ministers, bosses etc.) kid's are better off not ever being born. i'm ashamed to to be an american, because i was lied to by the instutions of society and the people who work for them. i was allways told "in america you have freedom." freedom my god damm mother fucking ass! all i ever got from america and the insitution of society was lied to walked and shitted on!
