Hi all, well i have the common cold with a sore throat and i was wondering if anyone have some home remedies that might help. thanx a bunch. ~Fallen Fairy~
me too - hot lemon or mint tea with honey, garlic to kill the uggies faster, hot showers/baths and steaming with eucalyptus help me. I'd be interested in anyone else's ideas though, I can't afford (literally) to be sick now!
Sage has got tannins that really help out sore throats...I like to drink warm milk and honey with a bunch of sage in it...but the milk may not be the best for a cold....if you're gonna be getting congested. and bee pollen may work since it has just about all our essential nutrients we need for the day.. it'll help the immune system for later on and replenish your system. Eucalyptus oil works good to decongest...and vitamin CCCCC!!!!
Fill a microwave safe large coffee cup with half real lemon juice and half hot water. Add 1 chamomile tea bag, 3 tbsp of pure honey (straight from the comb if you can find it!), and a couple cough drops (preferably with Zinc in them). Stick in the microwave until steaming hot. Stir to make sure everything is disolved or on its way to being disolved and sip away. Make lots of strange faces while drinking.. I believe it works better if you make funny faces. If you have congestion, especially in the chest, I recommend a mustard plaster. It burns chest-mung away like a superhero.
get some ginger, grate it on a cheese grater, or alternatively juice it. put juice or grated stuff in some hot water like a tea. hold onto your pants and drink some. let it sit on the back of your throat it will whack the soreness. this stuff will make your eyes water but you might feel better after ps don't drink eucalyptus oil!!!!!! the bottle with it in usually marks it as a poison
i have a bad cold, too. what helps me a lot is nasal irrigation. here is a helpful link on it. http://allergies.about.com/cs/treatment/a/aa040802a.htm - it literally cleans all the snot out of your sinuses and provides a LOT of relief. it helps your sinuses flush out the mucus. and it doesn't sting or hurt or anything. try it
