hehe found a new shading tool that works real well. Heres my process with Winona Ryder, then the final, and heres the orginal i used for reference so you can see the eyebrow on left is not arched enough and too wide, something isnt right with the lips, and i still need to add the shading below the hair on the forehead(forgot that and just saw it lol)
haha well i've always used torllins, paper stumps, but i discovered Q-tips work wonders specially on small areas!
sorry its so big... Anyways i went and fixed a few things(more shadows and such) so anyways im done with it now!
you really like it??? awesome! i really, really, tried to get it to look like her. i think i did ok, i mean the artist always see whats wrong in there own stuff right?(and i see a couple things) but it really reassures me i did something right(or need to work on something) with comments. i
you did a EXCELLENT job on this one....i think u have true talent crystal....keep it up...it's something good to be addicted to..
hehe yeah it kinda looks like you! you look like her alot. Yes i am totally addicted but i can only get better(i hope) with practice. I know its rare for artists to find jobs that pay, but im really tired of being "realistic" i will make this my job, somehow. In Austin right now they are hiring for Portrait artists to work on a new movie by the same people that made "waking Life"... and Winona, Keauna, and Robert doweny Jr are going to be in the movie, so im drawing all three to show them i can do it, then sending it off. I may not get it, but its definitly worth a shot!
HeHe..thanks for the compliment crystal..i hear that sometimes.. I am sure you could do something in animation for sure...and i hear what your saying about being realistic..i feel the same way about my clothing jewlery and interior design...like i think i will never be successful at my passion...but we have to look at it this way mama...at least we will be happy ... right ?? ? I LUVED WAKING LIFE>>>a great movie..and the movie they are going to be doing sounds very intriguing..where did u find out about it..?? it is definetly worth a shot..keep it up...keep trying w/ different places and keep expanding your horizions and eventually something will happen...WOW..how exciting...
There was a artical about it in the local paper. Said they were hiring several people in the Austin area that can do portraits. I've got keauna and robert to do then im sending them off. I'm hoping to get it out by next week! lets see what happens!
sweet work crystal, good choice of a pic to use... I like the heavy eye makeup, it's so dramatic. Although I like winona better without any makeup. (i guess it's the same with most girls) Man that short hair is hot too. I think i see the difference in the lips... in the drawing its like shes making too much of an "O" sound, or shape. I would make the rest of the space between her lips a slight bit wider. (like closer to the thinkness right in the middle of her lips) I dunno if im explaining that in a way that makes sense. Like in the pic shes got relaxed lips, but in the drawning she looks like she's gettin ready to kiss me. Wait... after second though winnona gettin ready to kiss me isn't a bad thing
lol... yeah i wasnt happy with the lips very much.but ehhh... im going to fiddle maybe a bit more then call it a day on it! thanks for the input. i knew something wasnt right with the lips so thanks for giving me a tip
That is awesome crystalstar, I really like it. Keep up the good work and please share more of your art.:sunglasse
Its a beautiful rendition of the subject Your progress is increasingly amazing !!! I USE Q TIPS TOO!!! Good to know I am not the only one.
I wish you the best of luck with that job thing!!!!! You did really good on this Winona drawing!!! (The upper lip of the drawing looks more crooked (if that´s the right word) than in the photograph, I´d say.)
hehe thanks guys, yeah i found q-tips a really awesome for pencil and charcoal work, so i wont use my fingers
