Wow.. I'm so SURPRISED!! I mean.. well.. not really.. but.. yes, kinda. Well no. I don't know. I just can't believe it was all so easy and that I could do it all on time.. and.. well almost on time.. cause.. yes MY VISA WAS APPROVED!!!! I just got back from Madrid.. the embassy of the U.S.A.. well I got back sometime this afternoon. I went to sleep when I got home. Train ride was long and awfully.. crowded and full of crying babies.. and it was so COLD in Madrid compared to here in Murcia, like.. here it's basically summer.. and there it was.. well.. winter. I had forgotten how it felt. The embassy was huge and.. just like I remembered.. I had forgotten 4 years ago but when I saw it it all flashbacked at me.. lots of cops.. lots.. as soon as I got there, outside, I got yelled at for paperwork "you have your passport? you paid the fee? what VISA is it? student? I-20??" yes yes.. get in, no the pictures gotta be retaken, too small, they changed the rules.. now all you're gonna see on the VISA is my face in HUGE ugh.. haha.. I waited 2 hours in the crowded room. I was called 3 times. First time, to hand in the paperwork.. second time, to do the fingerprinting thing - ALL my fingers, both hands, nuts (you know.. gotta be filed somewhere in case I'd kill someone in the U.S). AND third time, for the interview.. lasted 3 minutes!! AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR THE FINANCIAL PROOFS AND SHIT. NOTHING. They just wanted to know if my parents lived in Spain and.. thank god I managed to get that permanent resident paper thing at the last minute cause they wanted to see that. BUT THAT'S ALL!!!! And they were so nice to me.. it all went great.. while I saw other people leave crying cause their VISAS weren't approved.. I was told mine was right away and now I just gotta wait for my passport to get here, in the mail, within a week they said.. will get to school late, but.. oh well. Better late than never.. lol I can't believe it all worked out Thanks guys for all your luck.. I think you did it!!
I KNOW lol you're amazing Gary I'm sure it's all thanks to you Too bad I have no idea if I'll be back for your show on the 25th.. I may be back but incredibly jetlagged.. I have no idea when my passport is gonna arrive, but I am getting on a plane as soon as it gets here.. shit I gotta deal with school stuff, like talk to professors, explain res. life I'm not gonna get there on move-in day etc. it's all so sudden..
the important stuff is done...i'm sure the school (profs, and res life) will understand. awesome news !!
I know!! Yeah I mean most students don't even show up for the first week of classes.. they move in and party, and that's pretty much it.. some do buy their books.. oh god.. that's gonna be so expensive. Oh god I just realized I am retaking human bio. Oh god.. I haven't thought in school terms for months and months and thought I wouldn't ever again.. it's so weird!
okay I have so many other non-school related things to take care of though, once I'm back. I have to get an oil-change and go to inspection.. if I can find my insurance card.. actually.. that's the first thing I should take care of. I have to open a bank account with BNP Paribas in NYC. I have to register with the French embassy. I have to have my mail forwarded to my school mailbox. I have to see the head of International Students and talk about extension of studies VISA procedure.. See my advisor about that too.. well.. about how many credits I have left to graduate and how do I get an internship.. Fuck.. repair my cell phone or get a new one I don't know.. that'll be first Pay for my hospital bills.. a year late.. k I'll do that here, through phone.. Renew my driver's license.. well ahead of time.. like a month and half ahead of time. ... but all this sounds like nothing compared to what I've been through in the past week!! So I'm fine
with a plane ticket abroad and a birth certificate you can have it in two days.. Nick did that when he needed a passport to fly to Europe
Congrats Laety... I know this was a big concern of yours and this must be a huge weight off your shoulders.
I noticed that when I am wished good luck for something by people I've known on the Internet things work out great. Nice to see your life goes on the way you want it.
