...so don't yell at me because I'm always high!

I'm sick of people calling me a failure because I'm not doing well in school.
It's not that I can't, I just don't want to go to class because I have better things to do.
I'm enjoying myself when I'm young, is that really so bad? I'm learning way more about life this way than I would be sitting in a classroom full of clones.

I see failure as wasting away your youth in a classroom being fed useless information and then 20 years later looking back and realizing on how much you missed out on, but it's too late now.

This is the ONLY Tuesday, January 8th, 2008...EVER.
I'm not going to waste it in class just like every one else.

    Sorry this is long...
    I babble when I'm stoned.

    Anyway.

My point is, success isn't measured in how well you know the chemical formula for Iron, or how well you can present a project on the migration of the Aztecs, or whatever the fuck we're learning in school.

It's how much you get out there and make the best of every second and meet new people, try new things, etc.

Life is short, so light up a blunt and live it!

Does anyone else feel this way? Because whenever I tell people this I feel like i'm the only one.

I do too to some extent. Although last year i was in the same mentality as although probably a bit worse cause my attitude became fuck it with just about everything i didnt want to do. But then i realized im not gonna go anywhere in life without an education.

I hope you arent failing school though. What a waste of time to be going to school for all those years only to not to finish it. I couldnt even imagine how hard it would be to go through life without a highschool diploma

Well I'm failing school but as of now I think I'm going to drop out and get my G.E.D. and then go to a community college when I'm 18, and hopefully if I do well enough in the community college I'll get accepted into a better one.

My cousin did that and it worked for him.

man don't drop out and get your G.E.D., just stop being lazy and finish out school, i'm sure you don't have that many years left if you're 15.

just beacuse your cousin didn't get his G.E.D. and he's successful doesn't mean you will be. i know many kids in my high school (we have one of the highest drop out rates in my area) and some of them went for their g.e.d. and now they're just doing jobs that anybody could do.

Well you could always wait to live that life after you retire. Why don't you get a college degree, start a career, and back that life you want to live with cold hard cash. Your parents aren't going to support you smoking blunts all day, and if I were them I wouldn't either. If you can't be responsible and smoke, then wait till after school at night to smoke. Marijuana doesn't cause people to be lazy, that is their own personal decision. Why would you want to drop out when you have come this far, especially when you can do the work. It's one thing not being able to finish high school, but when you just choose not to try when you have the ability you are only harming yourself.

well, I have a job now as a waitress, I pay for basically everything except where I live, but I'm planning to move in with a friend for $200/month each.

I don't want to wait till afterwards because I want to party and shit when I'm still young, when I'm old, THEN I'll settle down and earn some cash and stuff, but until then money isn't what makes me happy, it's living life doing what I want to do.

Why would she want to wait until after she's retired?
You should live while you're young.
I'm not saying I completely agree with what she's saying.
But it's a weird and fucked up world we live in. Who wouldn't want to drop out?

i have at one point or another held the same or similar beliefs as you. various points at various times.

but these days i generally disagree with it and wish i'd done one or two things a bit different, but i can't really say i have any real regrets when it comes to this stuff.

i fucked around in school. i didnt care about it, it bored me. i learned far more on my own than in class anyway, and that included "book learning." using resources like the library, the internet, and various other means, i educated myself on bits and pieces of everything that interested me. in middle school i was reading the qu'ran, the dhammapada, the kebra negast, steal this book, and the communist manifesto.

in high school i was reading everything i could get my hands on relating to substance use, as from an early age both the scientific and spiritual aspects and implications of drugs, drug use, and drug effects absolutely fascinated me, not to mention intrigued and enchanted. erowid, terrence mckenna, andrew weil, and to a lesser extent timothy leary were idols of mine, along with allen ginsburg, jack kerouac, and a number of other authors and idealists....

but school? fuck it. i despise hubris and conceit, and hope i do not come across as disdainful, but the vast majority of my teachers in highschool were significantly dumber than me. i hate to say it, but the simple fact remained that the only classes i EVER did well in were classes taught by teachers i respected and looked up to, which were few and far between. i always anticipated college as being my only meaningful chance for an education, and only barely got by in school, figuring college would be better. well, because of my lack of motivation to excel in the busywork in highschool and my failure to see the importance of it, i'm just now looking to enter as a full time student in college and really seriously accomplishing my academic goals...four years after highschool graduation.

i was high virtually every day for as much of the day as i had opportunity to be high my last two years of highschool. i started growing my own mushrooms and took acid twice and 2C-B about 6-7 times....i tripped a lot, smoked a lot more, almost never drank. i was "living the dream" in my opinion, and had an edge over everyone else.

i wouldnt trade my experiences for the world, and they shaped me in ways i fail to adequately describe...but they formed my current personality and my ideas regarding academics, life, spirituality, politics, and everything else related to life. i am not sorry, but at the same time because of my failure to take interest in and actively pursue school, i have spent the last four years aimlessly wandering between part time jobs (until the past two years) and taking classes part time at the inexpensive community college i applied for simply because i knew i could get in. what would be a fallback option for most became my only real option.

what you've said sounds more to me that you're bored with school and find other activities to be more important and fruitful than working towards school.

its true that having a sense of independence, doing things you enjoy, even getting stoned a few times a week....hanging out with friends...these things are important to you, and so THEY ARE IMPORTANT!

but that doesn't diminish the value of doing well in school. i dont regret much of how i behaved in high school, but i could have done MUCH better and would have a college degree soon if i'd really tried. but instead, four years after graduating, i'm looking at finally transferring to a university as halfway through being a sophomore.

i'm happy with the way things have gone in general, but i could have done far more in less time. i dont know for sure that you're bored with school or just simply say "fuck it" because you don't want a challenge....

but regardless of why you would rather not be in school and getting a good education, the fact remains that if you really hate school you should get through it as quickly as possible. if you want to get a college education so you can get a good job someday, then you ought to try to do well in highschool so you can get into a good college, and when you're there you need to work hard and finish quickly. and then school is over and done with unless you choose to go back later in life.

but if you really hate school but want an education, just do it and get it over with. i know it sounds depressing, but school is what....6 hours a day or so? when you're "grown up" you'll work more than that if you want to get by, and if you dont get a good education it will likely be equally or more unpleasant than school, only longer hours.

if you do well now, you'll improve your chances at doing well later. if you apply yourself and focus on school first and getting high second, you'll do well now and later.

like i said, i dont regret my mistakes, but that doesnt mean they aren't still mistakes. i understand where you're coming from, and the desire to just get high and enjoy yourself, but its also true that society as a whole doesnt work that way, and the sooner you learn to work hard, the better your life may end up later. i feel like i am having a later start than i should, and DEFINITELY a later start than i could.....but school is important one way or another, and as long as you get through it it's all good. i'm not trying to make you feel like what you think or do is wrong.....but when everyone whose older tells you the same thing over and over, its usually because it's pretty true. i learned this a few years ago, and its helped me ever since.

its no secret a large regret many people have is that they'd done better and applied their abilities more when they were in school. its an idea you may not want to ignore - you seem smart and i bet you could do well.

and not to nitpick or anything, but iron is an element, it doesn't have a chemical formula....chemical formulas are concise means in which to describe the components of a chemical compound (for instance water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen...H2O) but iron isn't a compound, it doesnt have molecules. it's an element, made up of individual atoms...like gold or hydrogen or neon or something.....just one type of atom.....

theres no formula as there is only one type of atom....theres no amount of something to add to something else, no chemical process....just an element :)

its not gonna be 200 a month its gonna be a hell of a lot more cause when your out on your own your gonna be paying for everything and you'll soon find out of expensive everything really is. Plus you really wont be able to enjoy yourself that much. How fun could it be just to work and have basically no money left in your check to do anything with after you pay all your bills.

exactly. when you are out on your own and barely able to pay the bills, you can't really just go out every week. your budget doesn't allow for much partying or even just going out to a movie or a nice dinner.

if you don't get a well paying job, you will experience fewer opportunities for luxuries. sure, you can get by without a high education. and there are even some highly "successful" people who don't have a college education. but far more "successful" people have a higher education than do not. education is one of the very few things shown to effectively decrease the levels of poverty on a community-wide scale.

there is no shame in making less money than other people, and everyone makes less than someone else. but if you want to be living it up even when mom and dad aren't paying for the vast bulk of your expenses (home, bed, clothes, water, food, electricity, gas, school, internet, phone, etc.) then you would significantly better your chances by going for higher education. and that means if you want the best college education you can get, you ought to do as well in highschool as you can. because unless you score breathtakingly high on the SAT, ACT, and iq tests, you won't get into the best college you can without good grades. i am living proof that grades matter at least somewhat. i'm happy with where i am and what i've done, but i could have certainly done it better and faster if i REALLY tried.

it all depends on what you want, but the trick is not looking at what you want now, but what you want years down the road.

remember, if people tell you this often, its because most people find it to be true. there's somehing to be said for that.

it DOESNT matter if you think its useless

it matters what the people at colleges think
it matters because of all the great opportunities and jobs you can get if you graduate

    LAWLLLL at the OP.

your only 15, your not missing out on much yet. If you don't go to school, don't get decent grades, then most likely you will be missing out on a lot more when you reach adulthood (18+) and are actually able to do things.

Obviously not many people like school, i wished i could drop out too but i never did. Many of my friends did drop out, saying they were going to get their GED's. They are heroin addicts now.

just finish school, it isn't that fucking hard and things will be a helluva lot harder if you don't.

Live every day like it's your last.

Nesta has very good points for those of you who don't know what you want, or are trying to have the most fun possible, but aren't thinking about anything other than that. Which is fine and great and all, but life's different than the now. I wish it weren't, oh boy do I wish taoism and hedonism could reign supreme here, but it doesn't. It's impossible to think of the repercussions of an action before doing it though, you've never experienced it.

    Take care and have fun!

You can also do both. Go to school and party. School doesn't keep you busy all day right? Ah well, at least you pay for your own stuff (except your house). If you were a complete lazy-ass stoner and lived off your parents I would say stop smoking and look after yourself, but seems like you already do ;). Nothing wrong with dropping out of school, in my opinion! As long as you don't party over other peoples back!

Whats the point of going to school? To get an education and contribute to society. I dont care how you say it, or how bad ass you think you are for sticking it to the man, your just fucking lazy. I agree that school is retarted, thats why I dropped out of public school. But that dosent mean I should just not do anything and ignore getting an education. I take classes online, and go to community college, and I am still getting my high school diploma. If you truly thought that the school system was stupid and you werent learning anything, you would still try to teach yourself. But you dont. Your just a lazy lowlife. Have fun working at McDonalds the rest of your life. But me, im actually going to do somthing.

And for you to say that you cant have fun while attending school is just ridiculous. I mean, its just 7 hours a day. Less than a work day. I dont know why you think your wasting your life. Actually, i dont think you do. I just think its an excuse you use because you are too fucking lazy to work hard.

Enjoy being a crack head. :dupe:
