It's such a HUGE help in keeping them separated. Everyday was such a battle and headache with ripping hair out and I was just over it. It also helps to combine the ones that are joining up naturally. The ones I combine were already joined from the root down like 2 inches, so I felt like it was okay to wrap them.

thats great that you found a way to keep them seperated it's hard in the begining but i have some concern cause the hair under there isn't going to dread and also what are the made of? i hope they don't mildew up on you, how long were planning on keeping them in?
p.s. don't get frustrated with the ripping, after a while it will chill, i had bad problems with congos and having to rip constantly but now i don't have to hardly at all anymore, because the roots are more dreaded and smooth.

The string is actually 100% cotton but was advertised as "Like Hemp, but stronger." I wash my hair like once a week, sometimes 2x a week. So I figure I will keep them in for a month and then take them out (if they even stay that long). I can always have her redo them again if need be. But I am hoping a month or so will help.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. :)
