I hate members of Gen Y/Z that hold heroes from their Grandparents or Parents age.

15 year olds today that worship the Beatles, or Hendrix or Grateful dead.

I'm mean talk about sucking up to Mummy or Daddy, jeez go get your own identity

I wouldn't be mad if my boy started liking Primus. *shrugs*

It's just a sign that music from that era is ultimatly timeless. My son'll probably hate Primus. He'll love Zepplin and Floyd though.

Because that music is real and great. Not because he wants to kiss your ass.

And i guess it shows that the older music is still the best. nothing thats around today really compares to the dead.. just sayin.. and i mean, i honestly like music from a bunch of different genres and eras, im from generation y..

A movie from 1995 named Kids.

If you've ever heard someons sing "I have no legs... I have no legs" It's from that movie.

Shit, I've seen that movie a few times. It's not well known. Near the end this kid wakes up hungover and takes this chick's panties off and starts humping her while she's passed out so that he can say he got laid at this party.

That movie's a pretty big bummer.

lol, it kind of is, in the sense that 'Reefer Maddness' is funny.

It came out in the mid to late 90s as an almost propaganda/exploitive movie, covering the nasty goings on of teenagers during that era.

It was funny for the fact that it was so far fetched.

I think its great that kids are listening to older music...means they are more open-minded then those who always try to "follow" the other kids in school

I like that my mom grew up in the era that some of my favorite bands of all time came out of, but my love for that music really has nothing to do with my mom. I got into old music on my own without any help from her. Although I do love that I can pop in a Bob Dylan cd anytime we take a road trip together and she digs it just as much as I do.

You forgot the most disturbing part of that scene.. The girl he raped had just tested positive for AIDs. Ouch.

not necessarily. usually just means they're following someone else.

it is good to keep an open mind and listen to a variety of music. where it becomes annoying is when they try to form their entire identity around a band, whether it's the beatles, icp, or lady gaga. and even worse when they try to brag up their open-mindedness because they are only willing to listen to one or two bands.

i'm pretty sure i heard that the "i have no legs" guy was an actual homeless guy living in that neighborhood at the time. so someone singing it may have seen the movie, or they may have just ridden the new york subway.

Yeah, but if a parent gets their kid interested in their kind of music, its something they can share in common together. My father and his family got me into the music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s and I love all of it to this day. Does that mean I'm trying to follow him because I enjoy his type of music?
