I just got a new laptop, and I want to get into the whole downloading music scene. But I have no idea where to start. The only place I know and trust is piratebay.com. Does anyone else know of a website similar to this? Piratebay is good and all, but they only provide whole albums(to my knowledge), but not single songs. I want a website where I can download music without getting into trouble and without getting viruses; and would also like for it be a simple click and download site. If anyone can help please do. Thank you.

    sincerely

you know you need bittorrent for piratebay right?
if you got bittorrent all underway, BTJunkie.org is a better site imo.
On some bittorrent clients you single out which files you want to download.
If you have Mac, i highly suggest Transmission.
For Windows i suggest uTorrent (u is actually the sign for micro. takes up so little space on your disk)

    link for client comparisons:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BitTorrent_Clients

when it comes to viruses and such, bittorrent is very very good. You can see when a torrent isn't good to download by the reports from the website you download your torrent from. BTJunkie has good reliable reports almost all the time. Almost because if you're looking for something unpopular, there wouldn't be a lot of people to report back on it.

oh and you'll only get caught illegally if there's something in the torrent you download. Which will be either be a file in the file list (which is just too blatant) or reports from other people will tell you. The reports are super useful.
Oh and if you upload/make your own torrents, you're taking the chance of getting caught too cuz your cable networker will notice the unusual uploading. So just stick with leeching and seeding

    Ok.. here is my setup...
    I run a virus scanner(avast)
    i run a firewall(outpost)
i run PeerGaurdian.. which is like a firewall and blocks a list of IPs that are known addresses for companies that may scan your computer while downloading...
I use uTorrent as my client
    PirateBay, btjunkie, and google
i have never gotten a letter.. or a phone call.. nor do i get viruses or any of that bullshit.. the lack of virus also comes from common sense and years of downloading and learning little tricks to tell if something may be a virus.. but this is rare in the torrent community when it comes to music.. apps and games is a different story

I'd pay for cds if they didn't charge so god damn much, and carried what I'm looking for. If more bands came to the KW area I'd go to their shows and buy a cd at the merch table, but rarely does anyone come here that I'd be interested in seeing.

your dudes an idiot imo. Torrents are way safer than limewire. This is also coming from me who has downloaded 1.8 terabytes or more in the past 6 months from torrents with no viruses

    what crudeness.
it definitely doesn't take a phd to know that bittorrent is better.
"they're really risky and you have to know what you are doing"
If you'd know what you're doing with Bittorrent I'm sure it's definitely not risky, just like how the dude you know knows enough of limewire for it not to have ruined your comp..
