I just got a std test and I have no diseases! I am very happy, because i have had a lot of unprotected sex and no stds or children. I amone lucky son of a bitch and I swear I will wear condoms from now on. Yea!
There are two major STDs whos tests aren't that good. The first (herpes) isn't that good of a test cause it's indefinate. It checks for antibodies to the virus, but the problem is that almost everyone has been exposed to it and will have antibodies if they actually have it or not. The only true way to know for sure is to have an outbreak, which can occur as much as 2 years after contracting it and possibly longer. Even then it's still not 100% since there a few other things that can cause a herpes-like outbreaks so until you have multiple outbreaks or have one outbreak and get it tested it's still just maybe. Even without ever having an outbreak you could still have and spread it. The second flawed test is for HIV. It's possible to have it and still test negative for a few years. So don't get your hopes up.
Actually... This is misinformation... The test is reliable within 9 months. For people who go to the doctor and get checked and tested regularly, it will be detected... BUT... You can be walking around for 10 years, without symptoms... You feel fine and you think you're fine, but you aren't. And most people don't go to the doctor unless they are sick. Columbia University has some info on this: http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/1023.html King County has some info on it: http://www.metrokc.gov/health/apu/infograms/hivantibody0903.htm And the San Antonio AIDS Foundation says this about it: http://www.txsaaf.org/saaf/ask_cathy.html So, a good general rule is don't count on it, til you've been tested 6 months after your last possible exposure. Make sure your partners get regular checkups and tests.
i never have protected sex but i've only been with one guy and will always be with him...is that good?
