I'm 22 years old and I have constant and severe back pain. I see a chiropractor regularly but it is not helping at all!(been doing so off and on since '08, regularly for the past few months) My history: I was diagnosed with a minor case of scoliosis at 13 but no health care was given outside of a few doctors visits. I've been in 3 fairly serious car accidents (cars were totaled but I walked away from all of them) and 1 when the car wasn't totaled. about 3 years ago I was really into weight lifting and I was trying to see what my max was for squats and I had 405 lbs on my back and when I shot up I felt my back give and i knew something shifted instantly.. hurt like fuck and took my breathe away...

here I am today suffering from constant back spasms throughout my upper back and it greatly effects my sleep. The spasms are truly painful and I cannot find a comfortable position standing, sitting, or laying down... I feel as if my skeleton is all twisted up, which i'm sure it is..

I have an appointment with the family doctor tomorrow and I don't want to leave without a script for some legit pain pills. My main motivation is getting pills to get high but my back has gotten to the point where I do legitimately need something.. He has seen me several times for other things but I have never mentioned my back to him b4.. his perception of me is a good healthy kid. you can feel all the spasms in my back just by rubbing your fingers around my scapula's ... and I just had my mom measure my scapula's and they are about an inch off level... so there is a lot of legit material to work with here... I just haven never seen a MD for my back in my older years and I have never tried to get a script for anything b4 so if anyone could tell me what to expect or what to say that would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!

Prodigy when you go see your doctor, tell him exactly this^^^^ tell him how debilitating the pain is and how it is interfering with your ability to function. At this point do not even mention meds. Because he is just your regular doctor, don't expect to walk out with a bigass script for abunch of oxy and/or opana. Dont even ask for anything heavy beause the chances of him giving it to you are nil, and that will be an automatic red flag that you are drug seeking. SO HERE IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD: after you talk to him about your pain and history of your injuries and stuff, politely ask him to please refer you to a 'Pain Specialist/Pain Management doctor'. This is where you want to get to eventually. Hopefully he will gladly give you a referral. if he is hesitant, reiterate how seriously you need help and how the pain is so bad that you absolutely need to see a specialist, even if you have to find one yourself. This will show that your serious without coming across as desperate(if that dosnt work then your doctor is either incompetent or just an asshole, but im pretty positive you wont run into any problems here). Only after he has given you the referral, then should you bring up the subject of meds. something along the lines of: "its going to be awhile before DR. so and so will be able to have me come in for a consultation. can you give me something to get me through untill then". You will probably just get some hydrocodone and/or percocets. maybe a muscle relaxer. If you go about your appointment like this, i bet theres a %90+ you walk out of that office with one script or another, AND you can move forward to your next appointment with the PM doc. and he is the only one who will set you up with a substantial opioid regemin that your looking for. Be aware though that you may not get meds right away when you see your PM doc. often times they need to do lots of tests and x-rays and MRIs and such to prove that you are actually hurt bad enough to require heavy narcotics. It also depends alot on the doctor wheather he is liberal in what he is willing to prescribe.

its probably gonna take some patience and a good chunk of dough, but be honest with your doctor and i think you will find the relief you need...and a little extra somethin:2thumbsup:.

good luck prodigy! report back after your appointment and tell us how it went:sunny:

With the attitude that you mainly want the pills to get high, I would NOT go to the doctor to get pills, because you will likely become addicted quickly. I am not trying to be mean, but that is just the most probably outcome.

If you are in SO much pain that you can't function, and you really don't care if the pills made you high or not, as long as they relieved your pain, THEN I would suggest seeing a Pain Management doctor. But please don't do it just to get high. There is little turning back once you've been sucked into the world of opioids.

Also, I should add that the OP's problem sounds like it would best be treated with muscle relaxants like Skelaxon or Cyclobenzaprine (sp?). They may not be recreational like opioids, but for muscle spasms, that would be the first line of treatment, not opioids. Only after the failure to respond to those drugs would an opioid be considered. Even then, they would probably also try you on something like Cymbalta as well for muscle spasms (which you probably DON'T want to be on...).

I would suggest medical marijuana way before any type of opiods. Opiods can turn into a hell of an addiction. If you are planning to take on a daily basis you will probably develop an opiod problem.

You generally won't have much luck getting ONLY opioids for muscle spasms, that is just the truth to it. Even if a doctor was 'generous' enough to script you some Norcos, he would likely put you on Cyclobenzapine and/or and antidepressant as well.

You also mention that you are visiting a Family Doctor. It is very unlikely that a Family Doctor will script opioids on a first visit by a young man. It is just one of those stereotypes out there. It took me three or four visits to even get scripted Tramadol for severe migraines for which I could not take the standard medicines for them (Imitrex, etc.) because it literally gave me Serotonin Syndrome when the doctor scripted it originally. And I wasn't even trying to 'score' pills at that point. Doctors hate young men.

I've had much success using marijuana for migraine pains. If you use a high cbd marijuana it should help much with your pain. Also you can make a pain reliever from the roots from marijuana. I heard it completely makes pain disappear not numb it or such.

I dislike Cannabis as it makes me feel extremely uncomfortable in many ways. Thank you for the concern however. I generally just take two Naproxen tablets when I feel a migraine setting in.
