I've just had BBQ so it makes it even nicer! Theres nothing like a good smoke after a satisfying meal (washed down with an ice cold one) Keep it up champ! I might quit next week.
You're past the worst of the physical withdrawal. Now on to the psychological dependency, which is hardest for me to deal with. What are you doing at times when you should be smoking?
not smoke. i've only been smoking cigarettes regularly again for a few months. before that, it had been almost a year without any cigarettes at all, or just smoking occasionally ("socially") this won't be as hard as other times i've "quit" and knowing how bad my health got in such a short period of time will help encourage me to abstain
Nesta, How do you cope when your out having a drink with your friends? When I quit (which usually lasts for about 3 weeks) I usually cave in when out with friends. When they go out for a smoke I'm offered one. After a certain amount of beers I usually just smoke. When your enjoying a beer theres nothing like a ciggy in hand. Their like the perfect marriage. The last time I quit for about 3 weeks I was at a bus stop and a friend offered me a ciggy. I took it thinking it would taste disgusting (seeing as I had quit for so long) but it was the best cigarette ever. It hit the back of my throat like silk.
after a few years, i'm going back to school. most of my friends are younger than me. only a few are drinking age so we rarely go out when we drink. my friends also drink much more rarely than i do. there is a citywide smoking ban, so you can't smoke IN a bar, and my friends don't smoke in their apartments. it wont be a big deal. plus a few of my friends don't smoke, one smokes only socially, another two are trying to quit and doing a half decent job of it. several are gone for the summer. i think it will work out, honestly. plus cigarette prices just raised quite a lot.
You do actually want one or you wouldn't of make this thread. You will smoke again soon and you know this. When you really quit, you won't talk about it at all... well maybe 10 years later or something on some random thread you didn't start
who said i wouldn't like one? but i have tried many times and know myself well and how i act with this kind of thing. likely that i've not had the last cigarette of my life, but possible. i know i shouldn't have even one if i really want to quit for good. i have cigars and a pipe if i want to smoke and get a little bit of nicotine and a better taste than cigarettes have anyway. but i won't smoke cigarettes again anytime soon. possibly sometime in the future, but not soon. why are you trying to discourage me? i'm considering this an accomplishment, albeit a small one, and you're being a dick about it.
Congrats! I'm on the same journey at the moment. One day at a time, one urge at a time. Best of luck!!
i know this, which is why i don't go out of my way to avoid other smokers or people smoking when i try to quit. i know the world won't quit when i do, and eventually i have to get used to being around it, and resisting temptation
