I could easily have spent that....its like a buck 33 or so..I think. I just always translated it as dollars when I was over see's. now what ever it was they used in slovenia, that was hard to calculate. like 180 to the dollar. drinks in bars were like 350 slovenian tolars.

    700 Euro = 937.370 US Dollar

i think the $700 euro number must figure in those people who hand make ragdolls for thier kids, because our family has spent WAY MORE on xmasses.

well it is an average......some people buy $40,000 tennis bracelets for spouses, some people scrimp to have enough to buy their only child a warm winter coat from the Salvation Army thrift store, the nice jacket though, that costs 15 bucks and doesnt look second hand.

They gave it in euros becuase due to recent devaluation of the dollar the euro has become the biggest player on the currency market. In ireland we don't call them euros though, the slang term is yoyos! But yeah 700 is far to much I had to get a present for my ma, da and bro and I only spend about (check out the cool yoyo symbol! :)--) €150. Saying that I know people who have spent €400 or €500. I'm just a scabby bastard!! ;) :D

Great post, it goes to show the majory gap in society and it makes me sick that so people have so much money, especially at a time like Christmas.

I got some gently used shirts at Value Village for $3 each - one was never even worn or washed. And labels, one was a Old Navy and another was a Van Huesen. Smart shopping, huh? And $973 - no way - too broke.

I thought christmas was about sharing and stuff
Not the rich spending money for some other rich... it seems people have turned into hypnotized customers especially in some societies.

I would spend 1000 on each person an my list ...IF I HAD IT. actually one person if I had it, would get closer to 150'000 and my parents, if I could do it I would pay off the mortgage they currently have AND buy em another house ( my mom aint happy at the current one). current mortgage no too bad prolly 75k or so, but boy have california property values gone up in 17 years!!!!!! My generosity is ONLY hampered by my financial means. I love giving gifts to people I love.

i do think it's well-intentioned. we wanna give to those we love, and many people go overboard with the spending. i have been seeing, lately, peopl enot spending as much because they're realizing how stupid it is.
