Crafting wool hat are quite fun too, I wouldn't sell them for a lot either even if they take like 4 hours to do.

Good job on the beads BTW, might try to do some myself too once my dreads locks more

If anyone else wants beads before I leave (I'm already shipping some this monday), I can make some if I know by this evening. I have a chance to go to my friend's woodworking shop tonight, so I can do any shape and size easily :D

It appears that I will be acquiring some leftover scraps of really amazing types of wood such as cherry and walnut soon :hat:

I'll glady continue to make and sell these beads. When I'm back home at my parents house within the next week or two I can take pictures and post up the inventory of what all I have currently. I have a TON of bead blanks I made out of heart pine that I can craft into pretty much any shape. I also have some other really neat types of wood that a guitar maker gave me. I can post up pics of the different wood scraps I have. I can make them pretty much any hole size. I think I'm finding 3/8" beads to be roughly a good hole size for my dreads. If anybody is interested in beads, PM me.

Hey dude :) The beads look gorgeous!! What sort of price would we be talking about?

I'm interested in buying one of the spiral grain ones, with maybe a spiral pattern with or against the grain on the surface? If you get what I mean? I could draw a pic if you need xD

Pm me withthe details? Cheers :D

Have fun. Take it slowly and they'll turn out great. Its a good idea to finish up with some fine grit sandpaper.

220 will be nice, but I'm a little OCD so I sometimes work all the way up to 600, and then even shine down with some cloth before clearcoating.

lol thanks. yeah would go up way higer, but i only havde 220. I just got some other grits from school, just scraps, for a cherry bowl i made recently.
Dude.... shine down would look sweet. Do you coat them? Id probably use a high gloss polyurethane. Or mineral oil. I want beeswax though. Sorry im ranting im a little bit fly right now....

I use high gloss polyurethane spray. It seals them really well, because I leave mine in when I shower. They do eventually get a little darker after lots of showers and sweat, hehe.

lol, id probably just dip them in the little canister. But yeah, gotta cover the whole thing becasuse... well. if i had dreads, i would leave them in too. Doesnt it make the dread thin though? They have small holes so like, does it make the dread skinny if you move it or take it off?
Meh. but yeahhh. Man i cold wood burn designs in too probably. that would be sick. Whats an average bead size? like legnth width and height? thanks. ill probably drill them like 3/8" or 7/16" idk really what to do... but it will be fun. Lathe is always fun. when the wood doesnt explode.

The size varies from 1" long or even more, to 1/2" in long. I would recommend trying to make both 3/8" and 7/16" and see which works better. Beads help the dreads to lock up really well. The hair does get compacted, but the size variation is no more than anywhere else that the dread is really locking up well. Part of me wishes that I had just started dreads naturally with some beads to help them lock up at the base instead of backcombing :D

ok, well idk what works better. i dont have dreads! lol. but yeah. i wanna get them. im not allowed to yet though. but id do 3/4" sections. so idk. I wanna back comb though. I dont wanna wait really long. I like beads. Especially wood beads. they got that sweet natural look. I want a rasta peyote stitch too. but all the ones ive seen have black on them idk why.. and theyre not what i want.

-meh. i forgot what i was gonna say a while ago, ... ummm... oh yeah my friend said it looks like I have a mullet going. i think my hairs even all around thuogh, and it usually curls up in the back, but since its not i guess it looks like a mullet......:cheers2:
