Hello! Yesterday when I came home from work the wife told me that a friend who we hadn’t seen in 2-3 years dropped by and I was sorry I missed him. Then I realized that I had also missed his dog Penelope the Pit bull and I was really – really sorry.

I really like Penelope the Pit bull and that is her full name- I figure our friend named her that to point out to people that

Pit bulls have an unfair bad reputation/or to be open – like sure you can pat my dog but she is a Pit bull.

Penelope is very cleaver her self appointed job used to be to safely walk drunken fools home - nobody taught her to do it she just started doing it and she has probably saved the life of a few people by nudging them over when they started staggering into traffic. Any way I’m glad that when our friend first introduced us to Penelope the Pit bull I didn’t let a name scare me off because she is now a good friend. Cheers

Pitbulls are good dogs. They have such a bad reputation, but most of them actually have a very good temperment and usually only act up when they are abused or provoked. Dogs should be able to defend theirselves and their owners without being killed.

Pitbulls are really nice dogs. I used to be terrified of them, until my neighbor had to leave for a week or so and asked me to take care of his pitbull. At first I was afraid because of their bad reputation, but by the end of the week, I realized that he wasn't such a bad dog. He was probably one of the nicest dogs I've ever met. Pitbulls are awesome, despite their reputation. Being able to take care of a pitbull for a week taught me that judging an individual animal based on how the rest of the breed acts is wrong.

About 10 years ago my grandmother adopted a female pit from Jersey City....firefighter had found her and her newborn litter in a burning crackhouse....she lived at the firehouse with the pups until they were old enough to be weaned....the firemen kept the pups and gave mommy (Bully) to my grandmother....she was a fighter....to this day she is covered in fight scars, her belly has four home made (from her previous "owners") tattoos and her ears had been cropped with kitchen scissors....when my grandmother passed away my Dad brought Bully into his home....she is the SWEETEST dog in the world and will lick you to death before anything else....it is so surprising after all that she has been through.....the only thing that will make her whack out is if someone turns a ceiling fan on....that is how they "train" them to clamp down and use their jaws in the fight ring....truely sick people.

Humans can make almost any animal (or other people) nasty....its not hard. But with time and love almost all of the time they can be "brought back."
