going to my buddy, and because of the foolish setup of the bus company's website I got the wrong time. which sucks, because had I had the proper schedule to begin with I would have been on my way an hour ago. however, this unfortunate event led me to the discovery that people aren't very friendly towards people hitchhiking in the rain! there I am, it's a dark and rainy evening, on a quite deserted stretch of road, desperately trying to catch a ride so I can go get high with my friend. people have no sense of compassion these days!
Birds First Principle on Hitchhiking: the less cars you see, the more likely you are to be picked up by one. And an addition to that: you won't get picked up deep in the jungle.
i used to hitch hike all the time.. nothing bad ever happened to me. which is quite surprising considering i live in crime county...
I'm not saying I wouldn't pick up a hitchhiker but I would have to be having a damn good day and it would have to be the right situation
Yes hitchhiking should be braughten back. In this whole "live green" era you think people would be more prone to it. Ive only hitchhiked once and i was drunk and stoned on acid leaving a festival. People that picked me up were about the same.
it's green, and it's still not gonna happen. lol. my dad used to pick up hitchhikers a lot, and my stepdad. some of those people live in a very dark scary place in my memory to this day.
dave used to hitchhike all the time. the stories he has are just freaking amazing. once, when his truck broke down while he was hunting (and carrying his gun) someone still stopped and picked him up. no, he doesn't have "that kind of face." but he'd be heading home from some party, frying, stoned, drunk, whatever. exhausted as hell, all fucked up. he never forgot how happy he was to get a ride, nor some of the crazy people who'd picked him up. as such, whenever he doesn't have us in the truck with him, he'll still pick people up. i gave a hooker a ride home to her hotel once. poor crazy girl, she was a mess. she walked into my office looking ot use the phone. her hotel was only a few minutes up the road, but she was a train wreck. she didn't want me to call the cops. my coworker told me i was insane, but i did it anyway. she needed help. so i gave her my lunch and a ride. i lost nothing.
If I had a car, I'd give anyone a ride. Right now I just encourage my friends to pick hitchhikers up. We were on the way back from the beer store (15 minute drive away from town... live in a dry county) and we picked this middle aged guy up. He was from the Ozarks, and apparently his brother grows a whole lotta ganj out there. He also really liked The Smiths, which is pretty cool.
yeah, still not gonna do it. not with my daughters in the car. like i said, i have some pretty ugly memories.
Ya, I wouldn't do it with kids in the car either. I'd probably think twice about doing it if I was driving alone... But if there are people with me in the car, then it gives me enough of an illusion of safety.
yeah. i wish we lived in teh sort of world where we could just pick people up and drop them off. it seems so efficient and nice.
i would never pick up a hitchhiker... but i would hitchike again i think if i needed to.. depending on where i was at. but i am not as stupid as i was when i was younger. if i were to ever hitch hike again i would carry a shank in case someone tried to abduct me. and i would fuckin stick him!!
