    Hi I need help

I am making a pair of patchwork pants.

I took an old pair of jeans that were too big and slit the sides all the way up. Then I took a bunch of squares of fabric and sewed them together. I put the fabric in the sides. Then I cut off the waist band (I kept the zipper) then I took some rainbow fabric and made it a drawstring all the way around.the only problem now is that the pants are so big from the extra fabric that when you pull them to tie them the pockets get bunched up and look awful. I made them with two blocks of fabric side my side all the way down. I have no idea how to fix this problem. I mean these pants are probably 4 sizes too big for me now. I guess I could see if anyone wanted to buy them but I really wanted my patchwork pants! Please help. Any Ideas what I can do?

I will post pictures if need be.

    Thanks so much!

You may have to take the panels back out and cut them in an A line, then put them back in. I had the same problem, I did a pair for my boyfriend and they ended up way too big, he still wears them with a belt, say's he doesn't mind. But when he pulls the belt to fit, it bunches the pants all up around the waist. Oh well, Just another learning experience for next time.

Hope you figure it out. I would love to see though, you should put up a pic anyway.

You are probably going to have to take the sides apart & stitch them together again... since the pants are already too large & you are adding more fabric they will end up way too large. You will have to cut inches off of the sides of the pants before you sew in the patchwork panels... you can see how many inches too large they are now & then divide that by 4 ~ then cut that off of each side, front and back. Hope that helps!

If you can't read it, highlight it so that it turns black and white, and read it that way.
