I found one in my closet I had forgotten I had. Someone gave it to me like nine or ten years ago. I think I accidently broke on of the strings and I didn't want to play anymore so I put it in the back of my closet. Now that I have rediscovered it I want to learn how to play. It's no use to me if I don't.

Cool! I can learn how to tie my shoes and play the violin. I may never leave my house again.

i'd give my left nut to learn the violin (or cello). Ok, not my nuts, but I'd give an awful lot.

Sorry for digging up an old post, but I'm taking lessons myself and am curious how you are coming along with your violin?

I was thinking about getting my daughter into violin, but then i thought that the piano might be a little easier right now since she's only 2 1/2

Love violins. Played classical or fiddle, it's all good.

I don't think you can go wrong learning any instrument. Anyone thinking about learning violin should give it a try by renting one from an instructor for about $20 a month. Take a few lessons as well but make sure you click with your instructor. That connection is crucial.
