I was playing with Leane this morning on the bed....I pulled her up from her side against the wall and onto my stomach/chest.....
She gave a mightly push and before I could get a good grip on her, she fell off me and then the bed. We have lamanet hard wood floor on top of cement, and our bed is about 2- 2 1/2 feet off the floor.....she hit the side of her face on the floor. She has a big, purple cheek now, but it's gone down. I put some ice wrapped in a couple clothes on it and it helped the swelling go down.
    I feel like shit....
I just hope that she's going to be ok. What are some signs that she's not? For the most part, she seems perfectly normal...hasn't been sleeping more than usual or anything.....but how long does it take for side-effects to show up?

I think everyone's kids fall off something at one time or another - don't beat your self up hon! And then when she gets older, she will JUMP off things! Luckily, kids are pretty resilient (sp?). I hope she feels better. If she starts acting different, or you just think something's funny, maybe take her to a doc, otherwise, she's probably fine.

    *hugs*

Accidents happen, and kids are more robust than they look. Am sure she'll be fine but yeah any change then see the doctor.

If she acts really lethargic she may have a concussion. Try to keep her awake and watch her for the next few hours...if she acts normal then she should be fine.

I thought I was going to have a heart attack the first time my oldest child propelled herself off the bed onto the floor. After that, I just piled up pillows to soften the landing for when it would inevitably happen again. Just wait! When she starts walking, she will be covered head to toe in bruises. There are a few months where I have absolutely no photos of my first child because of all the bruises on her. At some point, I learned to not let it bother me so much and focused my energies on preventing any permanent damage instead.

thanks everyone....it's so scary when that happens....
when we were in BC for Easter, she did the same thing while I was changing her daiper on a futon...thankfully it was only not even half a foot off the floor, so the impact wasn't too bad. This time really freaked me out.
She's trying to pull herself up now, but usually lets go when she's half way there and caboom....it scares me when she does that, too, cuz she flies back and hits her head on the floor.
But she seems to be doing ok today...acting like typical 'ol Leane, so i think that she'll be ok. I still feel like crap, but like mamaboogie said, I think I'll just have to cover any worrysome areas in pillows.

Yeah, Virginia is 3 and every time her poor knees heal up, she falls again and scrapes them. Also, she has a shiner where she ran into a pinball machine. Those pull-thingies for the balls are directly at her face-level...
