so after a particularly shady encounter with a dealer it dawned on me. its not even worth it. i have to go through much to get it, so much to avoid getting caught by my parents and the cops. then there is the cost. i spend hundreds on drugs. i dont dislike weed, i still love it, but it just seems like its not even worth the hassle at this point. anyone ever feel like this?

sometimes i feel that way but i just love that plant so much that i continue to use it. i figure that as soon as i can i will grow a plant so i don't waste a ton of money on it. i don't really worry about getting caught by my rents because they know i smoke and know they can't do shit about it. i've learned to keep myself safe from cops and getting it isn't that much of a hassle for me

I quit every once in a while for the sake of my brain, though...

    Nothing wrong with that.

Suggestion-I've had lots of friends who were hooked on hard drugs (not that you are). But at one point or another they try quitting. They do it once-realized that they failed quitting and get hooked again.

I suggest that you think that you are giving it up for awhile-maybe a week, month, years, forever-whatever it ends up being. So if you ever do it again-you haven't failed.

It's a simple difference-but it means a lot to some people.

i kind of see weed as the same as like food or something. like obviously you need food to live but you dont need all the food you buy to live... if food was simply based on survival then you'd buy the cheapest most filling thing, but no i buy lots of different kinds of food simply because it tastes good, so i can buy weed with that same money cause its not necessary at all but its a nice addition to my various expenses.

    if only it was legal...

No need to decide to just stop altogether, unless you want to keep your brain chemistry the way it is sober, or want to save your memory. If it's just because your dealer is shady youll find other hooks in the future. And the thing about your parents, you can move out when your 18. And about the cops fuck em they won't find out if you are smart.

What everyone here is telling you is true ~

i've quit for long periods of time (8 years, one time; 5 years, another; and other, shorter breaks), but i always knew it wasn't forever, because i like herb too much to entirely quit for good and all.

If you end up being a Type-A personality, you may not come back to it,

    but don't say "Never,"

'cuz you don't know what's going to sail in on the wind,

and soon be all up in your face...

i'm on a break from weed too. 9 days strong :)

i've tried to quit weed before too for some of the same reasons, but i always come back. so i second the advice to "take a break" rather than quit. maybe just stop buying it as much as you do, or stop smoking alone if you do. limit yourself to weekends? or set a goal of not smoking for a certain amount of time.

actually my reasons aren't the same as yours. i have my own apt. so parents are not an issue. nor are the cops since i mainly smoke inside my apt. i recently found a pretty good dealer that's not a hassle. but cost is definitely an issue. and my health. and my lack of self control.

I quit because of those circumstances. Except that I live alone and I'm not afraid of the cops. Cops in Canada don't give a shit if you smoke pot. Believe it or not I just got plain bored with it.
