It's been almost six months since this experience took place and I still am feeling the effects. It all started when me and a close female friend of mine decided to eat two whole sheets of blotter papper each. I was at my uncles house who used to be a major hippy and now primarilly deals drugs. I'm not going to go into detail about the experience that followed except that I had lost my virginity and was wraped in a american flag on the front lawn when I came to. Now for maybe a week after this i continued to see visuals that i latter found out were a symptom of a prolonged phychedelic disorder. These visuals were not the problem. The problem is that ever since I went on that trip phychedelics no longer effect me and i seem to have reached a higher dimension of conciousness. I don't mean this in a condescending way. Theres no way to really describe what i feel like now but i'm only wondering if anyone else has altered there mind permenately.
it's called 'delusions of grandeur'; experience life for a few more years before experimenting with psychotropic drugs again. learn to discern reality from fantasy. fin.
why does everyone assume that if theyre on a different level of reality, it would be above what level they used to be on?
Dr. Jon, it is my belief that an enlightened individual could care less about his "enlightenedness". Perhaps you have changed your views and mindset for the better, but do not get that confused with enlightenment. Like everyone else said, just live a few more years. 15, while a worthy age, is not necessarily a good or valid age for making claims like this.
Because they feel like they've found "the truth", and the previous level was just illusion, and therefore "lower" than the truth.
jeez, negative kids. he didn't say, "I am enlightened", he said "I think I'm enlightened", and "I don't mean this in a condescending way". so you can be enlightened as long as you never say, "hey, just maybe, i could've possibly attained elightenment"? if you feel like you're full of light, sure, yeah, you're enlightened. no one can tell you you are or aren't but you. and you're on a cool track with trying not to be condescending. use it to the world's advantage. remember that you can always go higher, but being truly high means seeing the height within everything else before yourself. at least, that's my oppinion. read Be Here Now by ram dass. there's a part you'd probably especially like . but don't let it inflate your ego.
hey i think its easily possible for a 15 yo to be enlightened, in fact i think that is what progresses a person through the years til around 18 when i think there is less enlightenment and just more realisation/recognition. i think it is wrong to talk of enlightenment as an 'on' or 'off' matter. instead, we are enlightened around the very thing/domain that we have gained/learned. no one is totally enlightened in one go. enlightenment, in my oppinion, occurs when a new thought of great importance activates that is contrary to the belief at the time. this is particularly significant because in order for the thought to be activated, it must already exist as a potential thought. but because of a person's way of life, the thoughts that would normally precede this potential thought do not generally occur. however, the very fact that the thought exists means that there was a contradiction existing in the brain, unresolved because teh person had never concieved/comprehended/considered them. since it is a new thought, it quickly is overactivated because of its novelty, and also because it is a thought that is considered of "higher truth" to the previous thought. if it is a genuine enlightenment and the person's life changes, this would correspond to neuronal shrinkage of nerves that were specifically involved in the previous thought which is negated by the new thought. enlightenment comes with a large amount of rewiring of neurons, and it is the neurons which become redundant after rewiring that are afformentioned. since LSD and other drugs change the chemical balances within neurons, they can influence neurons to fire in new ways, but they cannot generate a new neuron on the spot, to create a totally new 'thought possibility'/'thought potential'. but enlgithenment, through my eyes/theory, specifically involves thoughts that are potentially there but do not, due to the standard functioning of the brain, come to fruition. it is easy to understand how a 15year old male could find themselves thinking in a totally new way after a huge mental change, and along with it so many new sensations and experiences that come with sex... for the first time.... & ON ACID!
glad some people have posted wisely and with a bias based on experience, compared to excitement and theories with which i too toy'd with a while myself, before realising how foolish it is to decide anything for certain, it is like only listening to one type of music, one song, one note, your whole life. just because one learns something does not mean one knows something. there is plenty of time to be one with everything, you are anyway whether you know it or not, but this informantion means what? it is not an answer, rather a much bigger question none of us can ever answer fully. 'those who seek buddha will never find him'
It kinda makes me proud to see this statement. While I believe they experienced some type of awakening. Descernment is the key to understanding the truth.
I believe that enlightenment isn't a final state, but a process of expanding. You've expanded now, you're more receptive to and understanding of the grand design of the universe around you, and it's a good feeling. Though now that you've expanded you will find new obstacles that will manifest themselves in your life and yourself that you must deal with in order to progress. I don't think enlightenment is something available only to psychonauts or practitioners of mediation and eastern philosophy, but to everyone. It's called personal development by some, or maturity. It's coming to terms with the dark areas of your own psyche, learning how to see through the veil of your own ego in ordinary waking life, and keeping an open mind at all times.
Everyone of us is enlightened, because enlightenment is what we are when we have transcended all else that we 'think' we are. Attaining enlightenment is a reversal process, which is of course a growth, but it is backwards. Transcend all thought, desires, ego commands, and obsessions, realize the oneness in harmony, and embrace your inner nature. That is enlightenment according to the masters. It may be different for you and me but, well this is what I feel, and hope to attain! namaste!
One of the questions I've been pondering about enlightenment lately is this: is it the same for everyone, or is it unique for everyone? And I've been leaning towards the latter. I think enlightenment, or at least one interpretation of "enlightenment", is just finding your own inner peace and full understanding of the world. For some, that might mean becoming a Christian while for others it might mean becoming a Buddhist. It might even mean becoming a committed atheist. To me, enlightenment is that feeling of "I've found the answers" - but knowing that they are your answers, not everyones. It's that feeling that you're no longer searching - at least, not feeling empty of answers - and instead feel you have knowledge and wisdome to give - but not impose, of course.
Exactly. It's the process of a soul coming into a state of complete harmony with the rest of the universe. No resistance.
I'm kind of disgusted by some people here who are telling this kid what is actually happening with him. You're gonna go up to this kid and just say "You're not enlightened!"? Like you'd even know what enlightenment is for anyone other than you.
Yes. I don't know what enlightenment is, but I am confident it does not involve getting on to a message board and bragging/telling random people about it.
if he were bragging he would have came back and...bragged. I find it a bit difficult to believe a 15 year old ate 100 hits of acid.
