    Ok, barefooter emergency!

My cat scratched the back of my heel really bad 4 or 5 days ago. It's deeper than a normal cat scratch. Some how its nail went through my callus. Not much deeper than that. Now I'm pretty sure it's getting infected. Just wondering what remedies you guys use. I FINALLY put some antiseptic cream (like neosporin) on it and a bandaid. I've let it go for a few days but it's getting worse. It's red and throbbing. When I walk it tears at it a little, so it's not getting a chance to heal.

I'll post a picture in the morning after I take the band-aid off. So, just a warning, this could get gross... IDK how far it will go!

Tea Tree Oil seems to be very effective. But if you get a fever you may want to consider contacting Ted Nugent.

And by Ted Nugent I mean a doctor.

I've been to the E. R. with a cat scratch. They had me give it a long soak in peroxide a couple of times a day. I also had to take antibiotics.

All good advice. I had something similar from Blackthorn a few months back and it too ages to heal on its own with just cleaning and cream. If your like me and resist conventional medicine sometimes it can be a bad thing, everything in moderation; if it's that bad get something hardcore for it :)

i suspect that there is dirt or claw fragments in the wound. now im no physician but this is a dangerous situation. the wound must, and i repeat MUST be inspected and cleaned from dirt and foreign bodies. using peroxyde in the process is a good choice; then apply neomycin powder around and in the wound, or other similar antibiotic, and bandage it properly. cat claws are dirty and a possible vehicle of a number of really crappy things, including tetanus. not to sound harsh, but forget tea oil, karitè butter, honey and the rest of the irresponsible bullshittery, it's too late, and seek serious medical treatment, a throbbing wound equals infection, and infections, like, kill people. check for suppuration. i got a number of foot wounds and treated them with peroxyde, local antibiotics and sterile bandages and never got this bad. others resorted to alternative methods and i saw the result. one german barefooter dude at a rainbow suggested me to store my own urine and use it for some deep heel cracks i had, advice politely declined; later that same guy wrote me that he got a real bad, and predictable, infection in the foot. and note that he was some huge and athletic looking fellow.

p.s. once you got well, take proper care of the cat. :smash:

I got a big tumor once from a cat scratch. The doc (and everyone else) first tought it was the Pfeiffer's disease :D but it kept on getting larger on one sight of my neck. It had to be removed surgically.

Seriously...get help from a medical professional. Infections can spread and cause issues in other parts of the body. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on television but if you don't have your health.....

The cat was only acting out of instinct. I'm sure at some time we've all hurt someone in an unintentional way.

    Pack it with mud.

I heard when the mud dries it sucks out like the poisons, or some shit like that.

Or, if you live near civilization go to a Doctor, or a Clinic.

Definitely get to a doctor. You most certainly have an infection, and an infection from a cat scratch can be really nasty. Luckily, I've never had an infection from all the cat scratches I get all the time.

Actually, I wasn't going to say it...but my mom had a cousin who got a bad scratch from a cat, they amputated his leg but he died anyway.

Which is why I said cat scratches are nasty. So you should probably get it looked at if it really looks infected.
