I would love to learn a new language, any language. I know sign language and some Spanish but that is all.
I would also love to learn how to play the piano.

I really wanted to learn Latin when I was young.

Then I realized that I already know Hebrew, and that one ancient language is enough.

It'd be fascinating to read all of the great works in their original language though.

Right now I want to learn how to play the violin. I'll probably do so over the summer.

I agree - it would be great to read some of the great works in the original language. But that would mean I'd actually have to learn atleast two languages more. Right now I dont feel like it.
But I do wanna brush up on my Latin. Cause you see, Latin made perfect sense. Its all perfectly logical - the grammar and the vocabulary. To me, its a beautiful language.

By the way, did you go to highschool in the USA ? Isnt learning Latin compulsory there ?

I don't think that Latin even exists in the U.S.

ESPECIALLY not in high school level. The U.S. has one of the worst secondary education systems in the entire modern world.

But no, I didn't go to high school in the U.S. I went to a private international high school in Honduras, and bless Jah for that.

actually, Latin is taught still. i know at least 3 schools in Boston that do...definitely not the majority of schools though

Boston Latin - oldest public school in america
    Boston Latin Academy
    Roxbury Latin

    all are grades 7-12
and you need to test into the schools

I can honestly say that I can't thank my high school education for preparing me for college...because it didn't. High school taught me to resent teachers and how to skip class efficiently.

I want to learn to speak one of the Gaelic languages, and return to my roots =)

Thats actually your fault, not your high schools fault. If you didnt wanna learn , who could have forced you ? If you wanted to skip classes, that was your choice.
I hated my teachers and everything I learned in highschool I learned on my own, cause I wanted to. Cause I knew I was gonna need it to get into Uni.
Teachers are just there...Its up to you to choose whether you wanna learn or not, skip classes or not...

You're right, but you really need to witness the American education system in order to appreciate his attitude.

This system isn't focused on learning, it doesn't encourage learning... it's all so anally based on the notes you make and nothing more.

But yeah, I agree... it's an individual's responsability to learn.

You do have private schools, and I'm sure that they are wonderful.

Yet one cannot judge a country's education system based upon its private institutions.

american education isn't all that bad...yes, it needs much improvement...but i'm starting to blame the culture rather than the education. i'm blaming parents.
