I want to make a patchwork shirt...

Well I have had a GREAT pattern my mom found for a shirt for like 8 months now. I used the fabric I was gonna use fix up some jeans and I just cant stand it anymore! I have to make my shirt..so my question is...

Do you think taking a ton of old t-shirts I have and cutting them to make patchworks would work? I have so many old clothes I dont wear and want to put them to good use...so do yall think old t-shirts would work well for patchwork??
