I am pissed. I was treated like shit at this shop and would like to get some revenge in a mature way. If there is a number I can call that would be cool.

Okay, I have been treated rudely here before, but nothing terribly bad up until tonight. Usually its just making the transaction and that is all, not so much as a "hi", "how are you" or "have a good night" or anything. I am thinking especially of that one real tall guy who just is not real friendly. They aren't very welcoming and I certainly started going there less and less as time went on.

However, I went tonight because Pauls was closed (missed it by 2 minutes). I went to get a 6 pack of gearys and chips. He rung them up and than I noticed I did not have enough cash so I said "On second thought I won't get the chips" and oooooohhhh boy did things go real south after that! The man literally started dropping F bombs under his breath! Because apparently people do it all the time and he decided that he had had enough. He was so enraged that he did not hear the young gentleman next to him trying to tell him that it is quite simple to fix the problem. I heard him say "no no ". But he was PISSED and did not hear. My thoughts: WHATEVER it is your job! of course people do that shit (they decide on not buying something), it is normal! So he slammed the 6 pack on the cabinet, it was very scary, I did not feel comfortable as he rung it up again. I said I had a bag on me but for some reason he gave me one anyway, saying something and disrespecting my wishes (whats the point?)

As I left I said "won't be shopping here again" as he CONTINUED to drop swears under his breath, turning to the kid next to him to rant about me deciding not to buy chips after they were rung up. I have worked at a register before, it is NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL and I was treated like shit for it! on a scale from 1 to 10 on annoyance factor, it is maybe a 1.5, trust me, even on a bad day, it is not that big of a deal!!

I have been given the silent treatment, dealt with an unwelcoming atomsphere to long and continue to give you my money anyways, But I will NOT be sworn at and feel threatened over a freaking bag of chips! Not to toot my own horn, but I think I handled the situation pretty gracefully outside of a face I made for a brief second and maybe my comment at the end was not called for (won't be shopping here anymore) but I personally think it was called for. You DON'T treat customers like that. For petty stuff like that.

I will at least talk to the manager. Maybe I will wait a day before calling/visiting to talk.

yah, things could be a lot worse. He decided to flip over BS. Like I said, I have worked at a register before, it is NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL to cancel an item, on a scale from 1 to 10 on annoyance factor, it is maybe a 1.5.

I don't see any reason to justify it.

If he confronts a real shitty situation...oooooh boy...yah

and working at a register..hell? um no, I can say that cause I have done it for a year. If you are chill, you won't lose your cool.

Look at it this way: You get to deal with one asshat with a dirty mouth and it costs you nothing extra.

Now from his point of view, he has to deal with 250 asshats who hold up his line, piss off the 9 asshats behind you, and he has to take shit for it and he probably only gets $6/hour to deal with it.

Would you want his job? No, he doesn't have the right to be an asshat but I can see why he might be.

Yeah, I just like saying "asshat" a lot.

What would you like to accomplish? Not much chance that you talking to a manager will get very much done- and screwing with someone's income- however ill-suited they might be for the job- might have unwelcome consequences down the road- especially regarding someone who has demonstrated problems with impulse and temper control. I say swallow your pride, let it pass, and don't shop there again.

That's easy for you to say when you're on the run from the INS.

    You don't know that.

When I worked on a register, cancelling an item was not allowed, we had to keep the receipt for the "mistake" and put it in our till. Too many of those got you in shit for making too many mistakes.

No, he shouldn't take it out on you, but he may have been having an off day.

Also, working a register for a year is child's play...try doing it for ten years and then tell me how easy it is...

    Carlfloydfan,

What happened to you was completely unacceptable and if it happened to me I would take action. You should ask the guy in question to fetch his manager and explain what happened. Ask for the name of the manager and the offensive employee and write to the head office of the company to see what they intend to do about it. If the written reply is unsatisfactory, get yourself legal representation and take it to court. You will probably recieve compensation for distress and emotional damages.

If you do not wish to be financially compensated by the send company then forget about the incident. I'm currently taking legal action against my energy suplier for breaking the Data Protection Act and the Supply of Goods Act.

Edit: Make sure you photocopy the inital letter that you sent to the company.

write a letter to hte manager, let him know what happened and that that pbehaviour made you want to never shop therea gain. dont be rude orinsulting, just lay it out, say the swearing was unnecesary and the attidue mad eyou feel threatened, you no longer wish to shop there but felt it was necessary that the manager know about this bheavour so he has a chance to rectify it with his employees

yah for sure Allonym! I have also given this shop poor reviews on 3 sites, which have noticeably lowered their rankings. Hopefully tourists see this and avoid the place. There are much better places to go with people who talk to customers and are more chill.

I simply don't deal with people who aren't chill. Especially when my products are slammed onto the counter and my character attacked with swears. otherwise, I am an extremely easy going person.

First i think you should get a bottle of alcohol and start chugging... and then go buy a gun.. and then walk in there and straight up rob the place. that will solve all of your problems

That is a pretty constructive suggestion. Is the store a franchise... is there a main office that can be contacted?

This is one thing that disgusts me in America. How people claim "personal insult" or blah blah blah and actually file lawsuits based on it.

Grow some fucken balls. Being a little bitch about every person that shouts at you if going to get you nowhere, but suing someone over it makes you pure scum in my book.

Get over yourself and be a man.

Get over the incident and keep on living, your anger will not deminish with a lawsuit or so... it will only give it more fuel.

I wasn't going to file a lawsuit, hahahahaha!! but this dude was a douche and I don't think others should buy from him. he made a huge deal out of things that I and others brush off while on the SAME job. Why take his side? I wish you could meet him and deal with him! I was very gentleman like in the dealings, but people at this store have been bastards for a real long time, not just this time. I don't want to subject myself or anyone else to that junk anymore.

And this has NOTHING to do with being American. WHY bring that into the conversation???? wow that is weak... (I am not even a typical American). But people seem to place themselves on high horses, because they are not American. That needs to stop. I would think it is a global feeling, not wanting to be treated like shit. I would say grow some balls and demand NOT to be treated like shit. I guess since you did not see the situation you can not understand and I should not have expected that.

I'm not referring just to you, I'm referring to the millions of lawsuits here which resemble this. Why America? Only this legal system is fucked up enough to allow it and only the people here are greedy enough to sue over such things.

If the people in the store are assholes, then no one will shop at the store... why do you even care? It's not the store's well-being, or the well-being of other costumers you are after. You are just after instant self-gratification... better known as "revenge".
