For the 1st time! And I really loved that movie... it was very well made, and it made me so emotional. What does everyone think of that movie?
The only part i saw was when I was one of 800 extras at the carnival place where they were executing the robots and Ministry was playing. the day before an extra tried to steal a script to post on the internet but was tackled and beaten by Speilbergs henchmen.
Artificial Intelligence by Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick. Don't you all think the end's a bit hard to understand? My boyfriend tried to explain it to me, but still... I don't really understand why the new Mechas can't bring Monica back for more than a day By the way, they're really advanced Mechas, not aliens?
it was an awesome movie, and haley joel osment is an amazing actor for his age... and theres jude law. any movie with jude law is worth seein,
yea i have a UK version of the video to Sixth Sense, and theres an interview of that kid, and he sounds really smart its almost freakish... he sounds way more mature than, say, mike myers
he's really 39...he's got that disease where you look younger than you are but your body ages the same... i could be wrong
i loved the movie.... but you can tell speiburgs stuff from kubric Loved Ministy..always have. LOVED the special effects.
I truly didn't like the whole modern Pinnochio story idea. It was not original, the story line. It's overdone, the modern theme did not help it much. The acting was not the best, yes, the effects were wonderful... but it's hard to find a movie now which is not soley based on good effects. I did not like it.
I wouldn't really consider it to be a 'Kubrick film' myself. The only way that it was Kubrick was in the idea. Kubrick had been developing this idea for about twenty years or so to make into a film, but he died before he could ever start it. So, Spielberg picked up the idea, being a good friend of Kubrick, and did his own take on it. I see very little in the film that truly resembles Kubrick. I remember reading an article on the film when it was first released, saying that many things would've been very different had Kubrick made the film. Jude Law's character would've been far more twisted, supposedly. The film would've been more of an adult film. Anyway, at the time I saw this I liked it (I've only seen it once, and that was when it was still in theaters three years ago). I'm not sure whether I would think the same way if I saw it again now. Something is telling my conscience that I wouldn't, but I can't determine that until I rent it again.
Yeah I quite enjoyed it - Very, very strange ending for a mainstream flick! It was just bizarre! That kid had me pretty freaked out actually.
I hated it. I'm just being honest. I thought it was sappy and weird. The only thing I liked was the soundtrack.I thought Jude Law and Haley Joel Osment were downright creepy. I did cry at the end...I couldnt help it...but it actually took me several tries to make it to the end of the movie.and the reason I cried was because, as a mother, that touched on 2 of the biggest fears and greatest sorrows that parents/children can experiance. and the "flesh fair" scene only proved that actors will do anything to be in a Spielberg picture...there were so many random actors playing cameos. I guess I just don't lap up everything a particular director makes. I certainly didnt fall for this movie. But alot of people liked it and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. As for Kubrick...I normally adore Kubrick..I loved nearly all of his movies...except...Eyes Wide Shut. Poor Stanley...to die with that film as his last one.*shakes head*
Havent seen AI but Eyes Wide Shut was a great film! I dont know why lots of people didnt like it. It was a great story, some amazing images, things we will never end up seeing in our lives but know they do exist. Great acting performances by both Cruise and Kidman, whether you like them or not. As far as the camera and lighting goes it was just as great as any other Kubrick film. and it wasnt confusing or even weird at all in my opinion. Its definatly one of my favorite Kubrick films. Alot of people judged this film completely wrong, almost as if they didnt even watch it. Ive heard people make it sound like the film was one big sex scene, while its really just thriller. Maybe some people watch the first 5 minutes and think the rest of the film is the same. I dont know...
This seems to be a pattern ... people who are fans of the genius of Stanley Kubrick tend to loathe this film and I'm afraid I'm one of them. I mean, Spielberg is a competent if unimaginative and immature director and is a fan of Kubrick himself. But if Stanley Kubrick had made this film he would never have allowed such cheap trashy sentiment to reign. He would've made an incisive and insightful philosophical film. As it stands, with Spielberg's big clumsy pawprints all over it, it's so saccharin sweet and manipulatively, easily and obviously twee and childish that it's sickening to any lover of Kubrick and of the potential of film as a mature art form. The only thing that makes me feel any better is knowing that Kubrick was only involved in pre-production, and that it was his almost entirely unrealised long-term dream that Spielberg took on. Spielberg himself wrote the entire script of AI, with a great deal of creative licence, based on Kubrick's 80 page treatment. I'm certain Stanley would not have recognised Spielberg's script. I'm glad he never got the chance to see the finished film knowing that his name was associated with it. It could and should have been such a great film, not a cheap and childish Spielberg mush-fest. It's the only film I have ever seriously considered walking out of. If I hadn't been with somebody when I saw it I would've. I later learned that she also hated it and was only staying because she thought I wanted to see the end!
