My water broke at 5 am this morning, almost on the dot. I've been having contractions ever since, about 5 minutes apart, one minute long, and not so intense that I can't talk through them if I concentrate hard enough... There was a bit of meconium staining in the waters, but I called the midwife and described it. She's not concerned. She told me to wait until they are more intense and then she'll meet me in my birthing suite. So YAY! We're having an anniversary baby. (Brian and I met on 14 May last year...)
so....you decided to breed after only 3 months? Congrats, I expect to your child to be the second most beautiful ever (My daughter is #1)
We didn't exactly DECIDE to breed. But when she decided to join us, we didn't complain...We were scared as hell (Who isn't?) but we didn't complain.
Next time you post you'll be telling us your birth story! Lighting a candle for you for a safe, happy birth. Blessings!
woohoo! she wanted to give you your first mother's day gift...after all our complaining, she was trying to be considerate!
Oh, she WILL be a mother's day baby after all! Congrats sweetie... we'll be praying for a speedy & healthy birth. Take care love, mom
Quick Update: Contractions kicked up but weren't painful around 8 this morning. I called the midwife as I was still concerned about the meconium. Between the contractions being close together (3-4 minutes) and the staining, she told us to come in. At 9.30, she started the first dose of antibiotics. She also did a check. I was fully effaced and 5 centimeters dialated. She was concerned, however, because she thought she felt a butt and not a head. Turns out, the baby's been sitting head down for so long that she has a nice bump on the side of her head. haha. In her vigorous checking, she broke my waters further. The bed was COVERED in water and meconium. After the check, however, there was no more meconium in my discharge and it's light colour still didn't give her any cause for concern. So I laboured for a while, able to breathe through contractions and nothing really intense happening. After about 4 hours, I started getting MAJOR back pain with the contractions. I was howling through them, sounding a bit like Miss Piggy when she doesn't get her way. My mom and Brian were wonderful through all of this, rubbing me, holding me, and keeping me motivated. After another check and finding me still 5 cm dialated and my cervix tightening with contractions, she gave me some homeopathics to get my cervix to soften. Another two hours pass with walking, squatting, and painful back labour, and I'm getting tired. I'm falling asleep and contractions are petering out. After eating something, I keep going and things keep going. After another 2 hours, she checks me again. I'm barely 6 cm dialated, the baby's -1 station and I'm completely effaced. She's concerned about my lack of real progress in the almost 8 hours I've been there. So we decided that I'll come home, drink some castor oil (taking 4 oz with a chocolate shake and in 2 hours, 4 more oz the same way), and wait for REAL strong baby-getting contractions to start up. I have until 3 am. And if I haven't started good strong labour by sometime in the morning, we'll be going to the hospital. So at the moment, we will have a baby soon. We just don't know what day.
Are you kidding me? I so want to cry right now. Haha. I was really hoping to hear that today was the day. Ah well, she's definitely worth the wait.
The best of luck to you. I hope she comes out really soon!!! Sending lots of strong contraction vibes your way!!!
New update: While the castor oil did very well at cleaning me out, contractions are still basically the same. They stop me in my tracks and kill my back, but they aren't coming very often. I slept through most of the night in 40 minute stretches. I really don't think I'll be having my baby in the birthing center and frankly, I'm scared now.
