I wouldn't call the music I listen to "heavy", per se

The bands I absolutely love are ones like Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, etc. Anything heavier then that I can't really listen to. I kind of wish there was a hardcore category so I could go on there and feel more at home. Ah well, metal is metal, even if it is on the lighter side.

they're metalcore, not hardcore, or metal there's a distinct difference in each of them.

Listened to this while tripping in the Smokies Mountains. Became a fan. Music is real generic at times but who cares, still some cool riffs and melodies. I still like Killswitch's 1st album with the old singer, I never really got into them with Howard.

I like Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache. it's catchy as fuck and Rose of Sharyn used to make me real emo :(. Shadows Fall - The Art of Balance was the second metal album I got. Other than that though, I've never been too into metalcore. I have an Unearth album and a Bleeding Through album (ew).

Yeah I never cared for the new Killswitch singer. I saw them back in the day with the old singer when they were on one of the Ozzfest tours. They fucking tore up the stage! Thier second album "Alive or Just Breathing" has so many great Killswitch classics, "Fixation on the Darkness", "My Last Serenade", "Life To Lifeless", great album!

I think that Howard is a better singer overall, but I hate his screaming.

    I like some metalcore.

Hopesfall's No Wings to Speak Of
Poison the Well's Opposite of December.
    Converge
    Botch

Sure there is some awful, generic bands out there, but that's just like any genre. I don't punish the good music of a genre for the bad music, even if most of it's gay.

Converge and Botch are good bands though. Even if you don't like heavy music, they can still be appreciated.

As for Shadows Fall and Killswitch, if you like catchy music of course you're going to like these bands. I do! Mainstream metal is just like mainstream rock or pop music, it's great to listen to when you want to turn your mind off for a little while.
