If you could meet any singer/actor or any celebrity icon wether they are dead or alive, who would you pick and why? I personally would chose both John Lennon and Buddy Holly. Lennon because of his music,an inspirational legend and one of my heros. Buddy because he seemed so sweet, his music, lovely voice and my favourite singer ever.(I'm listening to him as i write this!ha) Plus if there was no Buddy, there would be no Beatles. (My favourite band!) :guitarist::drummer::guitarist::guitarist: Music is such a great gift and these musicians proved just that. Please do comment, I'd love to know who other people would pick.
I'd like to meet Werner Herzog. his work is SO amazing and he himself is so enigmatic and fascinating. there's this film critic over here who keeps saying of him: "It's like that Nietszchian thing about staring into the abyss and the abyss staring back. when Herzog stares into the abyss, the abyss stares back and says....golly" plus his voice is really awesome, i could listen to him for hours. plus i'd like to meet one of my favourite (minor) celebrities of all, Mark Gatiss, actor and TV writer. this is mainly because we seem to share similar interests. in fact, all of the things that i loved growing up- classic horror (particularly hammer) in all its forms, doctor who, sci fi, sherlock holmes etc. he loved growing up as well, and kept his passion for them burning into adulthood at which point he began writing for all of them (he wrote sherlock, with steve moffat, the league of gentlemen, history of horror and continues to write the best new episodes of doctor who.) but not before writing one of the best (and darkest) British comedies ever recorded. he's just a stellar example of the positive power of nerdliness. plus he's a perfect gentleman. seriously, look at this sexy bastard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhuR1VMkpXM"]How to make authentic horror movie blood - A History of Horror with Mark Gatiss - BBC Four - YouTube I'd just like to spend a few hours geeking out with him. maybe watching "from beyond the grave" and having a pint i don't think there are any musicians i'd wanna meet. elvis costello always seemed a nice bloke, i'll take him.
Hmmm, maybe Alan Watts so I could shoot the bull with him. Then Soupy Sales just because. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cherobZX9cc"]Soupy Sales blooper censored - YouTube
I have never been interested in meeting icons, not even those who are alive. I'm not sure what I would say to my favourite musicians for example. But I am happy to enjoy their music
Jesus Christ and Socrates are neither singer/ songwriters or celebrity icons. I think the question implies a person, living or dead who has lived since the advent of Mass Media, which makes Adolf Hitler marginally successful. That being said I would have to whittle it down from the following list: Dead John Belushi Orson Welles Marlon Brando Jim Morrison John F Kennedy Richard Nixon Kurt Vonnegut Living Keith Richards Bill Clinton Hillary Clinton Michael Jordan The Coen Bros also I would have loved to see Sofia Loren around 1960.
I'm the same. I wouldn't know what to say to them. When people start talking about persons in bands I never know who they're talking about, I like the music but I'm not interested in their personal life as with celebrities. I don't know how people can seriously buy those magazines and have such an interest in a celebrities life. When I hear "did you hear such and such are dating" conversation in the office I put earphones in my head, I just don't get it. Even sports stars, I just don't care. There are sections in the newspaper where celebs have been spotted and what they say and it's almost 3 pages long, every day.. Aghh
i don't think i'd want to meet a musician i admire, no matter how much i liked their music. I enjoy music, but the technicalities of it don't interest me particularly. plus, its generally a good idea not to meet your icons, they'll only disappoint you. the only famous people i would want to meet are storytellers, essentially. even then i'm happy to let their works speak for themselves in most cases.
I know what you mean, i don't know what half the people are talking about with celebrities these days like what you said in magazines. Although I'm like it with the singers i like from the 50's, i'm also telling my friends about them and what they did. I think as long as someone does good things to the world and to people wether they are a celebrity or not, its nice to admire them.
I have spent the last few hours attempting to think of a someone iconic whom I would like to meet, but I was unable to accomplish the goal.
